Can I change my interview date?

Hi,

we filed our N-400 in November and our USCIS location is San Francisco. They are quite behind in their N-400 processing and we just received an update that we are scheduled for an interview. We have not yet received the exact interview date-however, looking at the past dates in the trackers, the average seem to be five weeks. This would put us at the first week of April.

Now the issue....my wife is pregnant and is due on April 15th. Of course the baby could come earlier or later. We are hoping for the best in that she would be able to attend the interview, but due to forces of nature-we may have to cancel or change the interview date due to my wife being in labor or having just delivered the baby.

Question: how easy is it to reschedule an interview and how much lead time should I plan to have if it needs to be rescheduled?

Thanks

You can easily re-schedule your interview by selecting the interview re-schedule option and sending or mailing the notice back as soon as you receive it in the mail! A new date will then be scheduled for you depending on the availability of slots with your local field office..in other words they get to choose a new date for you! Congrats on the baby and good luck with your interview!

Thanks for the reply. I guess my question is also, what if the date is planned for March 29th and my wife's due date is April 15th, but she goes into labor early. Is there a process for me to quickly contact the local field office for a rescheduling?

Thanks
