Home visit after Interview

Hi,

We were interviewed about 3 weeks ago.

In the beginning it all went well, but in the middle of the interview we got separated, they asked us about 40 questions and we knew most of them, I believe around 85%-90%.

My neighbors told us a week ago that 2 ladies came and ask them questions, who lives on our apartment (the neighbors answer a couple with a child), then showed them a picture of us and the neighbors told them they recognize us but they didn't saw us lately (we both working a lot and this is why we weren't at home when they came).

What will be now?

I would have never answered these personal questions / i would have said you need to return when the people are home and see for yourself

I know we all (in the past) were not afraid to answer quesions such as this but nowadays it is a bit scary

Since you didn't mention the people giving ID and HOmeland Security is the only people that should be asking questions, i would ask my neighbor to not give out my information to anyone.

Most likely you will get another interview. Visits are not unheard of, but rare- they have serious doubts about the bonafides of your relationship. Any reasons for that, such as red flags? What questions did you and your spouse answer differently?

BTW, it is good that your neighbours said they saw you together, so I disagree with the previous answer.

Field visits are rare but it did proves you both live/d there , home or not

its not a bad thing if known as a couple by the neighbors.There was a

question on this, however hope there are no more questions.

"Red flags" probably age difference - 10 years.

We didn't answer the same on questions about things we didn't remember, for example where we bought our TV.

My guess is you'll either get a second interview or approval. Keep checking your case status.

Some countries conduct field investigations more than others, don't know your country, please fill out your timeline.

They will assess the result of the investigation and call you back for another interview, sometimes issue the visa without a second interview.

Usually Nationals are used to do these questionings and snooping around the neighborhood, sometimes they identify themselves and sometimes they do not.

It helps a lot if the neighbors answered the questions to your benefit.

That will likely get you denied.

Answering questions to strangers is bizarre to me too but it depends on how bad you want the visa and you got to play their games.

Had the neighbors said they knew nothing it would have worked against them, BIG time. You are assuming they didn't show ID, obviously they did because the neighbors knew who they were. Home visits are not uncommon in certain countries. We have seen many people on this site denied because neighbors were hush hush

To the OP, it was a good thing that you neighbors knew who you were, like I said home visits are not uncommon in some countries. Good luck

I am 21 years older than my husband, it wasn't an issue. Most likely it was because some of your answers didn't match. I attended my husband's interview at the consulate, and we were both questioned, too. Yours was a stokes interview because you were separated.

Remember this is for an AOS interview, not a home visit in a foreign country.....

People often post in the wrong forum and without a timeline it's hard to figure out where they are in the process.

I have also seen several posts about home investigations during AOS where they go through dirty laundry and closets.

Rare but it happens.

You have clearly not lived next to someone who is about to get a higher security clearance They most likely showed ID and if the neighbors had refused to answer the questions it would not have looked good.

What are your ages? Country? Office? What documents you guys bring and didn't bring to the interview?
