Get an I-551 stamp to be safe. But what is concerning is you filed with CSC in March 2015 and they still haven't adjudicated your case? Have you contacted USCIS?

Looks like they went for an interview in November...

OP have you heard any word yet on a decision?

Yes, I went for an interview in November, not heard anything since then, I should get an infopass and get a stamp then.

If your driver's license expires when your one year extension expires and want to continue to drive, you have to get that stamp.

If your employer threatens to fire you without a valid green card and your one year extension expires, you have to if you want to keep your job.

If you need to travel abroad, and don't have that stamp in your passport, they won't let you back in.

If you are also applying for US citizenship, will want to see that stamp in our current valid foreign passport, or may get into trouble.

Guess if you are just planning on locking yourself up in your home until your card comes in, you don't have to.

If you already had problems explaining what a one year extension notice is, will really have problems explaining what that stamp means.
