Here's the issue with that:

So, when we are killed in the street by cops and it's covered up, when we are not hired because of skin color or black sounding names, or our kids are sent home for their natural hair styles, what is the appropriate course of action? How do you move forward without making any sound?

You know why gay people march and have parades? Because living in fear of your life for decades has that effect on you. Now being able to get married and not killed for if,it's a big thing. That's why people can't understand the difference between white pride and black/gay pride. No one has ever told white people they couldn't be proud of their race, ever. Black/gay people were made to be ashamed of their own existence. And still are to this day. That struggle is every day life.

We've already had this conversation before so I'm not going to give you the same long answer I did last time. But in short I believe the best way to fight it is through individual people's hearts and minds. Show them that they have no reason to be prejudiced against you by being the best you that you can and trust me it works. I've seen people's perceptions change on Jews or Israelis through my own personal experiences, I've also seen it change on black people through my wife's dad(who is a democrat btw) - used to be pretty racist until half his family became black, now he has fun playing with the black step grandkids.

Give people a reason to like YOU - and they will like others like you. Give people a reason to be annoyed by you and they will be annoyed by everyone like you.

No,what I'm saying is I am so tired of being blamed for something that happened a hundred years ago,and people using that as an excuse to commit crimes, once again, the jewish people were treated horribly, don't think it could get any worse then what they went through...cry me a river ...

What happened 100 years ago 1916 that you are feeling compelled to feel guilty about?

Here's my problem with this. Why should I or my family prove that we're good people? Is it because we're black? There's something wrong with that.

A person has NO reason to be prejudiced against me or her in the first place. It's not my job to change your mind, it's your job to judge me based on my merits and actions. Don't come in with a negative perspective based on our skin color and we'll get along fine. But I or any other black person shouldn't have to start further back because we're black.

That's why this country will never change. It's on the oppressed to change the oppressor's mind rather than the oppressors realizing the errors of their ways and doing the right thing.

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

So we should hold up signs that say hey, I'm a good person? A lot of times we don't get a chance to prove we are good humans. For example, my kids didn't know racism or the meaning of the n word until we moved to texas. They were conStanly called black nappy headed n's at school and we were called one just walking across the street to my daughter's orchestra concert. Yes, it happened.

I shouldn't have to go out of my way to prove I'm a good human. A person should not have to prove their a good black person to be accepted by a family. The color shouldn't matter, whether or not that person treats your family member the way they want to be treated is more important.

This same ideology happens in hiring practices. They don't know if the black person will be a good human so they don't hire them because they don't know how to give this person a chance to prove their a good person.

In closing, I'll say that's why I love hawaii. My kids have yet to be called out of their name. People here are so mixed or of so many other races they don't care we are black, we are just people to them. It's the first breather I have had since being born and living in the u.s. the cops don't pull us over for no reason. We can jog at 400 am or 10pm and we're not stopped and asked for i.d. or asked do we live in the neighborhood. We haven't proved that we're bad individuals so we are given the benefit of the doubt that we are good individuals. Which is how it should be for everyone.

I did right. I taught my kids to live based off of the individual's qualities. I didn't teach them about colors. So why do my kids have to suffer and just keep living? Why can't other parents teach their kids the same?

You would help your case a lot by not saying "we" every time something happens to a black person thousands of miles away as if you are all part of a single individual organism. Though it happened to "him" or "her" that doesnt mean it has anything to do with you. 3rd mention, a serious one, after which I am going to take the liberty of having fun with this little habit.

I don't understand what you're last sentence is referring too.

I know you don't understand what it's like to live in fear knowing that anything can happen to you or your kids just because you haven't had the opportunity to prove your a good person.

None the less, I understand your point.

*sigh* you obviously misunderstood everything I just said. It's not others that are coming with negativity, it's you, by automatically expecting to not be accepted. All I'm saying is be you. Let them know you as you. That's not "proving" anything to anyone, it's what any normal person of any race or religion should do every day of their life.

Yes, even when I was a kid and at the time my family was living in Boston due to my dad's job, we went to visit the neighbor's once and by the time we left someone made sure there was a swastika there. Doesn't automatically make me go "oh everybody hates me". I get along just fine with most people. Cause I approach them with the right attitude.

If you like Hawaii you would like VT(except for the cold) as mentioned the other day. While this state is not very diverse on the outside, it is very diverse where people's attitudes are concerned.

I know everyone don't hate me and I don't ever go into a situation assuming no one will like me. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt and I would like the same treatment . That's it. That's what most good people want. It's the same as being innocent until proven guilty. I want to be innocent. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm not that into the cold. NY is as far as I've gone and I almost froze to death. It was December. I'm getting nightmares just thinking about that Christmas. I'll have to visit VT during the summer. Then drive on up to Canada for a visit being that it might be my new home real soon. Lol ;-)

Definitely beautiful in the summer. Hey let me know if you're around.

My main point is, just as it is not right to stereotype black people, it isn't right to stereotype the police. There are bad people everywhere, so why pick on the cops? Why do you have such hate for them? I was trying say that when you need help, you call the cops and they will respond. Usually in a good way, not a bad way.

first, holding police accountable is not 'picking' on police.

second, show me where you get this idea that i have 'hate' for police

third, show me where i stereotype police.

from where i sit, all you are saying or trying to say is that the public should blindly accept police tactics (including an embarrassing death count from 2015) - no matter what - because apparently police are too fragile an entity to be held to the standard of accountability the american people deserve.
