Income Question for i-864

Hello I am a us citizen and would like to file a i-130 petition for my mother to come here but for the I864 i have no income but my wife has income and we file tax jointly. Does that mean i can use that as my income or not? How would i file the i-864 if not? Thanks

yes, you will file the i864 regardless o having no income, your wife will file the i864A as your co sponsor

then no need for your wife to file for co sponsor if she doesn't make enough to cover all 3 of you

then you would file the i864 as sponsor and the other person would file another i864 as your joint sponsor

you only can combine income with your wife, or she makes enough for everyone or you will have to find a joint sponsor that can cover your mom

correct, co sponsors can because they live in the same household, such as your wife, you do taxes together

but a joint sponsor cannot combine income with a sponsor, plus you don't have income

and the joint sponsor can't combine with your wife because they have nothing in common

One last.thing do the i864 you send later when its at the consulate or do you send it along with the i130...also thanks for your help it helped alot

at the nvc state, once the i130 is approved, the approved i130 will be sent to the national visa center, where more forms, payments and documents are required

one of the documents is the i864
