Hello, my wife(US citizen) and I are filing for AOS from F-1 student visa. We have a question regarding the tax transcript. We have the most recent tax return transcript(2015). We have been reading different posts on VJ saying that we would need to attach the last 3 year tax return transcripts. Other posts have suggested that we only need the last year's transcript as people sponsoring for K-1 and CR-1 need the last 3 years. Can someone clarify what exactly do we need as the husband is legally in the US and in status as an F-1 student?

Also, Do we need to report last 3 years income on form I-864? In most recent year 2 and 3, my wife was struggling to find work and as a result, she had to use her retirement IRA to support our cost of living(rent, food etc). She has filed taxes but it shows a HIGH income for most recent year 2 and 3(Almost $80k, as we used a lot of her retirement money). But for the most recent year, we actually moved to a new state and she got a job and we filed taxes jointly(as we married in 2015) and her most recent income on her tax transcript is $23 k.

Will we have any issues in regards to a HUGE income change from the last 2&3 year compared to the income shown on Tax return Transcript for 2015?

I see no issue with it. Even the $23k is above 125% of the poverty line, that's what counts.

In your case, you are better off showing 3 years worth of tax transcripts. From the instructions on the form:

"You must provide either an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years."
