I keep hearing about CFO asking some K-1 Visa applicants for proof of single status from their USC Petitioner. I've also heard them request for copy of criminal background check. I'm not worried because I have no criminal record and I'm single however divorced twice over 20 years ago.

Are these questions being asked of fiancee's who do CFO seminar before interview. Don't they realize that USCIS and NVC had already conducted background checks?

1. Because of this, would it be better to go to CFO after getting approved at interview?

2. If I get an affidavit of legal capacity to contract marriage from US Embassy in Manila. Will CFO accept this as proof of me being single status? And is this going to cause consul doing interview at embassy to wonder why I'm filing for this document, because it is normally used if you want to marry in Philippines.

My fiancée has her interview on March 17, 2016. And is scheduled for CFO on March 11, 2016. Just don't won't any delays because her flight is booked for April 10, 2016.

It would be nice to get some feedback of recent experiences of the CFO Seminar about these topics.

We have every document possible including my court certified divorce decrees. You name it we got it, been to Philippines to visit her 4 times in last 10 months. Fiancée is 6 months pregnant and we even got medical certificate that she conceived during my visit.

I'm only worried about the things I've mentioned like the proving single status and background check. I've never been convicted of any crime. Just don't want delays, and I did allow three weeks after interview for booking her airline ticket.

I guess my question is are they asking for proof of being single and copies of your USC background check????

She only has to provide your divorce decree. They do not ask for proof of single status if you were never married. How does an American prove that they are single? The only thing I can think of is a recent tax return with single filing status.

They don't ask for police records of the petitioner that is all checked in the I-129F or I-130 Status with USCIS. If you get an affidavit to marry from the US embassy then that might create an even bigger flag during her K-1 interview.

They might think you got married in the Philippines. Don't over think it just have the basics that are listed on the CFO site and she will be fine.

Key items for you fiancee should have for CFO are all divorce decrees, your mothers maiden name, you Land line phone number (not cell). A copy of your birth certificate and a copy of your passport bio page. My fiancee had all of these and sailed through the CFO. She was told by her interviewer that they check to make sure she knows about all of your prior marriages/divorce.

The most important thing is that she needs to be confident during the interview. Relax, it' not as bad as some messages you read about the CFO interview.

I don't recall ever hearing of CFO asking for a background check.

CFO doe ask for copies of divorce decrees, or death certificates. They do want process of singleness.

Most in the states no longer have a landline so its ok to use a cell number. Just give the cell number when asked and don't indicate what it is or they will be confused.

It would be nice to also hear from recent CFO attendees.

Is the divorce decree enough to please counselor at CFO, or are they also asking for proof of singleness from USC?

My tax return status is head of household and not checked as single, even though I am single and can legally still claim head of household because of daughter who still lived at my house in 2015.

There is no proof of being single... only proof is that you are divorced and that is it.....

Your Fiance needs to bring copies of "ALL" documents that was submitted to USCIS from the beginning of the I-129F petition + current documents.

If you submitted your divorce decrees from 20 years ago, she needs copies of it, the CFO might ask about it.

She might be asked if she know about those divorces and she should respond truthfully (if you guys talked about it then she will not have any issues).

If you do not have any past crimes, felonies etc... then you are ok.

BUT if you do, where you truthful about it on your initial I-129F application ? if not then that might be a problem...

BTW - My Fiance's interview was middle of last year and I was previously divorced too...

In the Philippines there is proof of singleness - it is called a CENOMAR ... and CFO wants the USC to show proof too... jeez... good grief... duh. But what can a guy do?

Of course my fiancée knows about my past divorces and all details about them. This is even documented in the first two weeks chat logs when we first met.

And ####### are you insinuating by suggesting if I was honest or not about my criminal history on I-129f. You think I'm a stupid ### moron who would put false information before a FBI background check?

The only reason I mentioned about background check is because my fiancée is doing CFO before embassy interview. I've heard of one person being asked by CFO counselor to bring copy of her USC Background check.

Simply just answer my question, so I know if I need to pay for my own FBI criminal check to bring to CFO to prove I have no convictions of anything, not even one.

I just attended the CFO seminar last Feb 19th.

My fiance was divorced twice, and yes, the divorce decrees for the two satisfied the counselor's requirement. She also asked if I have an idea why his past marriages ended with divorce.

The questions are very straightforward (how did you guys meet, what she likes about you, what do you both have in common)...your fiance will be fine. The seminar and counseling really was not as dreadful as I thought it would be

Have her bring a photocopy of your US Passport's bio page and a few photos of you together.

And based on my experience, No, I wasn't asked for my fiance's USC background check.

Thank you very much for responding with your current experience at CFO.
