I just mailed my i-751 waiver. I only just got divorced so was unable to file earlier. My conditional resident green card expires in one month exactly. I have a few questions…

What if I want to travel abroad? Do I have to fill out a form or notify immigration?

What will happen if I do not receive the extension letter in time and my green card expires? Will I still be able to work? What are the next steps in the process?

Any advice or insight from previous applications that have gone thorough the same situation is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

You will receive a notice stating that your permanent resident status is extended one year. If you travel, you can bring this notice and your green card on your trip. Even if you don't receive the letter, USCIS will know that you've filed prior to the expiration and you can request that they send a copy of the notice. Did you use a service through which you can track the package?

Yes, you will still be able to work. Right now, you just need to wait for them to adjudicate your petition.

I really thought it was OK to travel when you have the extension letter, I've read some comments here saying its ok and I even called USCIS. Until I went back here in the USS and it is really a risk, big risk! Huhuhu oh well, it is what it us :(

Missy, we're you able to to get back to usa?

Yes, after they detained me 7 hours. Fall asleep there at the homeland security office at the airport, coming from long trip. I was nervous, hungry and sleepy. But they stamped my passport until 30 days only and I don't have any idea what that means. They scheduled me for an interview also end of this month. They kept my expired greencard

Ok, then just get ready for the interview very well. Think of what evidence of your marriage you can still find (something that you have not send out yet). Take copy of the package that you sent at the begging and you will be ok. Be positive, you need to prove them that you marriage was real and you need to explain them the reason why it has ended.
