Hi everyone. Had my interview yesterday and I have been "recommended for approval" which means I passed, right?! :)

It was scheduled for 12pm. Got there around 11:25am and was called in at 12:05. The interview process was easier than I imagined. My interviewer was really nice and the interview went pretty quickly. Don't remember the questions. At the end he said that I should get the oath notice in 4 to 6 weeks because NYC is really busy. I was out of the building by 12:20.

Oath ceremony was held at our local immigration office at 10am with 26 people from 15 different countries crossing over to being American citizens.

Everyone was polite, the ceremony was quick and interesting. We had a few representatives from Congress sitting in.

We got our certificates, which were presented in nice certificate holders (wasn't expecting that). They told us to check for errors as it will cost $350 if you discover any error after the day of presentation. So guys make sure to spend a few minutes and go over every word on your certificate before leaving. She also told us we could sign it when we get home and not to laminate (important).

Thanks VJ supporters for all the hard work in giving advice and keeping each other sane.

For those of us who are done, please continue to be on this website to help those that are coming through the pipe line.

Had my interview today and also took an Oath as well. I am now a US Citizen. Updated my timeline below.

Now my next question is, can I now apply for the US passport for my son under this circumstance below or I have to file for N600 for him first? He is 14 yrs old and he is a permanent resident.

A child born outside of the United States automatically becomes a citizen of the United States when all of the following conditions have been fulfilled:

  • At least one of the child’s parents is a U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization;
  • The child is under 18 years of age;
  • The child is residing in or has resided in the United States in the legal and physical custody of the U.S. citizen parent pursuant to a lawful admission for permanent residence.

A child who has acquired U.S. citizenship in accordance with Section 320 of the Immigration and Nationality Act need not apply for a Certificate of Citizenship but may do so by submitting a completed N-600 form (Application for Certificate of Citizenship) and the requisite filing fee to any Field Office of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services of the Department of Homeland Security (USCIS). The form N-600 may be obtained by going to the USCIS

Had my interview today and also took an Oath as well. I am now a US Citizen. Updated my timeline below.

Now my next question is, can I now apply for the US passport for my son under this circumstance below or I have to file for N600 for him first? He is 14 yrs old and he is a permanent resident.

A child born outside of the United States automatically becomes a citizen of the United States when all of the following conditions have been fulfilled:

  • At least one of the child’s parents is a U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization;
  • The child is under 18 years of age;
  • The child is residing in or has resided in the United States in the legal and physical custody of the U.S. citizen parent pursuant to a lawful admission for permanent residence.

A child who has acquired U.S. citizenship in accordance with Section 320 of the Immigration and Nationality Act need not apply for a Certificate of Citizenship but may do so by submitting a completed N-600 form (Application for Certificate of Citizenship) and the requisite filing fee to any Field Office of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services of the Department of Homeland Security (USCIS). The form N-600 may be obtained by going to the USCIS

Congrats!! NJ offices typically do same day oaths. I'm glad you're done with it.

Regarding your son, I'm not sure if you need to file N600 for your son but if you do, do it ASAP. USCIS recently proposed a filing fee increase, where N600 fee would increase by almost 100%. Currently it costs $600, but when the new fees are in effect (probably sometime within the next couple months), it will be $1170. Good luck!

Wish I could have had a same day oath ceremony - it's so anti-climactic. We put all that energy into getting ready for the interview and then we have to wait for 4-6 weeks for that oath letter... <_<

The good news is that I have until October to register to vote in NY state :)

Redlining myself.

Interview this morning at 8.25, followed by (a surprise) same day oath at midday, Stoked that I'm all done! Exactly 4 months between sending it and finishing.

I live 2 hours away from the USCIS field office, an had no idea if the oath would be today. So I went alone. I think several other that were there this morning for their interviews were in the same boat, as they didn't appear to have family at the oath either. So it maybe that for the Charlotte office at least, they try and interview you the same day as the oath if you are travelling from afar.

All of the staff were really nice. The interview took less than 10 minutes, and really felt like a formality.

Just found out that Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed, such a relief :dance: Now got to wait for the Oath date :) What I'd have done with out Visa Journey..smh! Moderators it's nice that this site is free but I believe the amount of important information related to immigration is shared in this forum, it should come with a minimum price of like $9.99 an year at least : :D JK :jest::yes:

I still haven't gotten my rescheduled oath ceremony, and the soonest Infopass appointment wasn't for a couple of weeks.... tried walking in, but the farthest I could get was the guard at the front of the building, who I gave a copy of my letter and oath ceremony notice to and begged to pass it along to the right people.

I'm starting to get anxious, but hopefully I'll hear something soon!!

Congrats to everyone who's completing interviews and oath ceremonies!! So exciting!!

I'd still make the infopass appointment just in case. Cancel it if you get the new letter meantime.

Do you belong to this district? https://www.cacd.uscourts.gov/clerk-services/naturalization-ceremony-locations-and-schedule Next oath ceremony is on 8/11. Do they have any available infopass appt before then?

I am in the same boat, on July 18 passed the interview i was recommended for approval and he gave me the form N n652, however he said he's supervisor has to review it, until today no online updates nothing!!! This is b...shhh.
