Like i said, i didnt realise interview/oath was same day till i had mine on a saturday.

I hope yours will be similar ,i know it brings great relief.

if you can get there hours before your interview,you will be interviewed.

I will have my interview in Jacksonville FL as well on august 4th. Did you know before you went into the interview that you will be eligible for the same day oath ceremony? Wow that was awesome. Hi. I wanted to you ask you guys for a suggestion/opinion.

We mailed out everything March 28 or so and received a noa1 dated 4/7. Wife got the appt for biometrics on May 4. Since that day, we haven't received anything and the website never seemed to update. We called to day and the guy honestly just read what we could read on the website. There's nothing new he could tell me.

Only thing he says is that possibly, we could have gotten a new receipt number at biometrics. Could this be true? I'm going to check when i get back home later today and verify this. Even if it's the case, we still haven't heard back and that seems like it's been too long already.

What do you guys think?

Some people end up with prolonged background checks. In my case, biometrics was on 01/13 and I was placed inline on 04/26. Others who were delayed in my group (December 2015) were placed inline within 3-4 months of biometrics.

Normally, you are placed inline either a few days after biometrics, or exactly 1 month before your 5 year anniversary (whichever comes last). If this doesn't happen, then there's usually a 3-6 month wait.

I had my interview today in Chicago. It probably took less than 10 minutes. The officer was nice and very professional. I was sworn in and asked 6 questions. After that I had to read a sentence and write: "California has the most people". Then he went through my application, asked about my most recent international trip, and went through "No" and "Yes" questions on the application. He asked me to sign it, sign my photos and one more document. Then said "Congratulations, you passed" and that he was recommending me for approval. He did not ask for any additional documents. He said that the letter with the date of the oath will be sent to me within the next 2-3 weeks. It was very quick, easy and pleasant!

We got the status update on the website! As of 7/18 hubby is in line for an oath ceremony. Hope to have the date and everything before we leave the country on 7/29. Congrats to all the new approvals, as well!

Alright folks, going to share my experience in here. I had my Naturalization interview today @ San Jose office. My interview was at 1 pm, I reached there before time say around 12.30 pm. The guy behind the counter told me to go to window 1 and put the interview letter on the box, I followed his instruction and took a seat, oh btw I was the 1st one. People who came after me piled their interview letter on top of mine hence my letter went at the bottom, then spot on at 1. Several IO came out of their office and grabbed those letters and started calling the applicants. And of course I was the last individual to be called for the 1 pm slot, hence it was pointless going 30 mins prior the interview. Now once the IO called my name I followed him to his office, I took an oath of being truthful etc.My IO was in his 50's a hella grumpy black man Then he started asking me all those application question and I kept on saying NO or YES. He was very grumpy and sounded/acted stern. One of the answers instead of saying YES I said Hmmm and he was like we are not sitting here to make sounds, it's either YES or NO. In my head I as like ok mother effer He asked me "oh you are married for 3 years do you have any kids?" I was like no but we are trying." I was trying to ease up a little bit but he remained grumpy and told me that's not an appropriate answer, it's either YES or NO. I mean I work in the County which is a US Govt entity, our sheriff's aren't even that cold.

Then we proceeded with the typical English test consist of reading and writing.

Followed by civics and history questions are as follows:

1.What is an amendment

2. What's the capital of California

3. Who vetoes bills

4. Name 2 tribes

5. What is the supreme law of land

6. Who America did in WW II ? ( I was like who "did" ? that's some hood talk right there)

He was like - Ok sir, you passed the English and History/Civics test but I can't make a decision right now since our 319 bla bla portion says if you do not have a child it doesn't prove that you actually stay with your wife.If you had a child already then it will definitely be very easy for me to determine the case. You will get to know about the outcome soon as I will go over your file, and if I need anything I will let you know.

I was so freakin' pissed, I wanted to tell him stop BS'ing me, I gave you my tax papers where me and wife filed jointly for the past 3 years, and multiple bank account, credit cards, mortgage. I mean what else do you need to determine ? I mean the US govt doesn't control my sex life, if I don't want to pop any kids I won't. My sperm is my personal business, I'm honestly amazed by his response. I wasn't trying to be a smart a$$ or anything with my answers but I didn't wanna be tensed at the same time. Let's hope he clears me else I've to go to a lawyer and congressman.

Don't worry, we had a terrible interview experience too, a very aggressive IO, but in the end the supervisor signed off no problem! I'm sure it'll be the same for you!!

On the other hand, though.... guys, I need your help!!! :-O

My interview was last Tuesday. I was freaking out for the same reason as Shounok, wondering if I was going to be approved or not because my IO was so terrible, but then Friday afternoon I got a text saying straightaway that my oath had been scheduled! I was super happy, especially since I knew there was an August date coming up for Santa Ana/ Los Angeles oath ceremony a little less than 4 weeks out at that point, so I was positive that I had been put into that one!

Well, bad news... just got our mail, and our oath ceremony was scheduled for..... (drum roll) YESTERDAY!!!! What the heck!?!??!

The letter is postmarked last Friday, i.e. the 15th, and the ceremony was for July 20 at 12:10 pm. We don't even get our mailman dropping our mail off until **5 PM**!!! I am so upset that they would schedule the oath so close, and then rely on USPS to get us the letter in time!!!!

Obviously I immediately overnighted a letter explaining that we didn't get the oath notice until too late, as well as the original oath ceremony notice, to the Santa Ana office per the instructions on the letter. I also made a copy of both and am going to hand deliver it to the guard in front of the building, to see if he can get it inside any faster. But I'm super stressing, after all the crazy stories of people having to reschedule their oaths and never hearing anything back!! Why would they have scheduled it like that?!?!

Anyways, if you have any advice or anything on other things I can do, please let me know!!! Apparently I could have been a US citizen yesterday.... oh well, my time soon will come! ;-)

This happened to someone on here last month or earlier this month. He took the letter, in person to the Field Office without an appointment and showed it to them. They let him in to see an officer who said that it was their mistake and they'd reschedule an oath as soon as possible. I think he got a call to pick up his oath letter within a few days. If you dig around you might be able to find the post I'm talking about.

You did the right thing by returning the letter as indicated in the instructions, but it's also good that you made a copy. If the office is close, pay them a visit and show them the letter. If they don't let you in, make an Infopass appointment for as soon as you can, but first try your best to speak to someone.

We are in the same boat with the Dallas office. My husband had his biometrics on April 14th, and still no in line notice for an interview. He has called before and was told that things are just being processed. Not sure what else we can do.

Became a US Citizen yesterday at the 1:30 oath ceremony at the LA convention center. I think there was over 4600 people naturalizing yesterday, the place was packed. The ceremony was very nice. The Judge (Judge Ike) presiding over the ceremony was very nice and very gracious, saying it was his honor to pass the motion. One small thing I did not like, was that he (in a very subtle way of course) had a very obvious political agenda/political bias in some of his comments, as though he was almost trying to sway peoples opinions. I feel that people should make their own minds up about things like that.

The place was chaotic afterwards, with so many people milling around that I didn't even attempt to register to vote or anything like that. I figure it would be easiest to do that online.

I am glad to be finally done with this whole process!
