Hi everyone, today was the big day and I finally became a USC. Just to give you a quick rundown, the ceremony was held at Faneuil Hall in Downtown Boston in the Great Hall which was a very fitting place to have held it.

Hey kris, did you have any guests for the ceremony? Notice letter says only one guest allowed. I wanna know how strict they were on that. Do you at least remember if the balcony looked crowded? I googled footage from past faneuil hall ceremonies, most didn't look like it was, but would be nice to hear your recent experience.

Hi charmander, the balcony wasn't completely packed on my ceremony date. I remember the guards mostly made an exception to people who had children or babies. In a few cases, the elderly were escorted by a family member to the ground floor itself. It seemed like they mostly stuck to the 1 guest/applicant rule.

Hey all! Thanks for all the good luck wishes today. Hubby passed. ^_^:D It was much, much easier than we were expecting. They only asked him three civics questions, outright told him they didn't need any of the supporting evidence we put together and took to present (uff, what a waste of time!), and finished within 15 minutes. He turned in the letter requesting an oath date after we returned from being out of the country and the officer was very appreciative and said it wouldn't be a problem. She made a note on his file and then added an extra footnote on his approval notice so we could have proof that she'd recognize the request. We are very, very excited and super relived to almost be done! Hope everyone else had a similar experience today. :dance:

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

got an update that my oath ceremony letter was mailed today.the email says if I don't receive it by August 10th I should call, I was hoping for a July ceremony but it looks like it won't be till August or maybe even September.

Finally I am done with Interview and passed it pretty easily. My appointment was at 2pm reached there at 130 and got the Line ticket in 10 minutes. at 155pm officer called my ticket number and took me to office. I took oath to tell everythign truth and then she started asking questions about application. Officer was nice we laughed at some petty traffic and location issues. Then she did my Civic test and I was done in 18 MInutes..

She said sign all the documents she told me and said congrats I am pushing your application for approval and you should receive Oath Ceremony Letter in few weeks.

Thank god it was not tough at all. I am so so so happy. Gud Luck to all others too.

got an update that my oath ceremony letter was mailed today.the email says if I don't receive it by August 10th I should call, I was hoping for a July ceremony but it looks like it won't be till August or maybe even September.

Congrats! That's a standard message, they show 30 days ahead date. Your oath ceremony might as well be in July. Have you checked the upcoming oath ceremony dates in your district? Maybe you could give them a call tomorrow http://www.vaed.uscourts.gov/resources/naturalization/Norfolk_Newport%20News%20Naturalization.html ask for the dates for the upcoming ceremonies. Letter should arrive within the next 2-3 days too. They mail those from the local office.

Hey all! Thanks for all the good luck wishes today. Hubby passed. ^_^:D It was much, much easier than we were expecting. They only asked him three civics questions, outright told him they didn't need any of the supporting evidence we put together and took to present (uff, what a waste of time!), and finished within 15 minutes. He turned in the letter requesting an oath date after we returned from being out of the country and the officer was very appreciative and said it wouldn't be a problem. She made a note on his file and then added an extra footnote on his approval notice so we could have proof that she'd recognize the request. We are very, very excited and super relived to almost be done! Hope everyone else had a similar experience today. :dance:

Got my interview letter yesterday . Interview scheduled for Aug 8th at Atlanta.

Funny thing is I live in South GA and I had my Bio metrics done in Jacksonville,FL but my interview is scheduled in Atlanta :)

Adding rohit15s interview date. Rohit, website says they have same day oath ceremonies https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices/georgia-atlanta-field-office#Naturalization%20Ceremonies . Because you live far away, it won't hurt to ask if you could do same day oath if you are recommended for approval after the interview.

we will have interview the same day in Atl! I know that Atl office used to have same day oath, but I am almost positive it doesn't happen very often now ((

charmander is correct.

I was scheduled for an oath ceremony on June 10th, and the notice said that I should call if I don't receive a letter by July 10th. I got my letter on June 13th and the ceremony was on June 22nd.

I know there is no 'requirement' to what to wear in naturalization interview. So those who completed the interview, can you please share your experience. What would be appropriate to wear. I live in California coastline I don't want to end up looking like a surfer dude when everyone else is in suit and tie! :jest:

No specific dress code for interview. It never hurts to be on business casual. I went on a full sleeve shirt tugged in pant and black leather shoe. Dress like you attend any other interview. No need to wear tie, blazer etc., again there is no specific dress code for interview but for Oath ceremony there is Strictly business casual.
