at least now you know the potential dates in july. Most likely you will get the 7/7 ceremony unless you are a lucky winner for the 7/4.

Not much but if the date showed something like 6/15, I was going to say maybe they also scheduled you to the 6/16 ceremony.

I think that date is just always 1 month out from the date of the update regardless of when the ceremony is.

At least that's been the case for the ones I've read about on here and in my case.

For those in SoCal new ceremony dates https://www.cacd.uscourts.gov/clerk-services/naturalization-ceremony-locations-and-schedule, its exciting. By the way these are Judicial Oath Ceremonies lead by a Court Judge not by a USCIS Officer, in that case your date and place may vary since it can happen at your field office as well.

Congrats! They don't send a letter for the in line notice. It only shows up on the online status and if you have signed up for the e-mail or txt notices, it would also update there. Have you been checking your online status? Under case history tab on the left side; it would say "We are scheduling your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, for an interview" with a date over the check mark. That's your in line notice date.

Hey Guys, so I had my interview today and I passed, the questions were pretty easy I got the first 6 questions right so she never asked the rest of them. However my officer was very mean and rude for no reason and maybe I am being too sensitive, when she came to ask the last questions on your application about if you were ever part of terrorist group or arrested and all that, she made a comment like" are you planning to go shoot gay people in night clubs?" referring to the shooting in orlando. I know they have to ask those question but that one wasn't in the application!! and just the way she was talking to me and how she said it didn't feel right. then at the end she asked why I'm not changing my last name why I'm keeping my Muslim last name? and if I'm planning to divorce my husband after i get my citizenship, I explained to her it's not something we do in my country and I love my husband, I'm not going anywhere I just would like to keep something from home, so she was like well u're in america now and asked me if I really want my citizenship saying that I need to forget about my home and my Egyptian passport once I become american. so I felt pressured and I said okay I will change it. I know I passed and I should be happy but this interview just made me feel horrible and made me think if I should call and see if they can keep my name or is it too late. changing my name wasn't something i wanted to do and my husband understand. you think I should call and see if I can or just try to change it back when its all done. I just don't won't to risk delaying it even more since we are leaving over seas soon.

Your interviewer was an idiot.

That's his problem, not yours.

You can try contacting them and getting your name change canceled, that should be possible, but might be a bit of a headache. If the only change they're making is to change your last name to your husband's last name, then you should still be able to get your passport in your maiden name.

Your naturalization certificate will have your married name, but your passport can (I think) still have your maiden name, and you can then use that as proof of citizenship when you need it.

Once you're done, you can write a letter of complaint to the supervisor of the field office and the USCIS Ombudsman and to your congressperson... or you can just assume that you're going to meet idiots in life and move on.

I think you should have insisted on keeping your maiden name if that's what you wanted, but I understand that it's a very stressful situation. Good for you for not losing your cool and telling him where he can put his suggestions!

Congrats! They don't send a letter for the in line notice. It only shows up on the online status and if you have signed up for the e-mail or txt notices, it would also update there. Have you been checking your online status? Under case history tab on the left side; it would say "We are scheduling your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, for an interview" with a date over the check mark. That's your in line notice date.

Sometimes they place you inline and then schedule your interview on the same day.

If you are getting text updates, then you should have received two, but if you're just checking your status (even every day), then you may have missed the first update.

Usually, when this happens, people use the same date for Inline and Interview Scheduled in the table, because having an interview scheduled means that you were inline even if for a few minutes.

Hey Guys, so I had my interview today and I passed, the questions were pretty easy I got the first 6 questions right so she never asked the rest of them. However my officer was very mean and rude for no reason and maybe I am being too sensitive, when she came to ask the last questions on your application about if you were ever part of terrorist group or arrested and all that, she made a comment like" are you planning to go shoot gay people in night clubs?" referring to the shooting in orlando. I know they have to ask those question but that one wasn't in the application!! and just the way she was talking to me and how she said it didn't feel right. then at the end she asked why I'm not changing my last name why I'm keeping my Muslim last name? and if I'm planning to divorce my husband after i get my citizenship, I explained to her it's not something we do in my country and I love my husband, I'm not going anywhere I just would like to keep something from home, so she was like well u're in america now and asked me if I really want my citizenship saying that I need to forget about my home and my Egyptian passport once I become american. so I felt pressured and I said okay I will change it. I know I passed and I should be happy but this interview just made me feel horrible and made me think if I should call and see if they can keep my name or is it too late. changing my name wasn't something i wanted to do and my husband understand. you think I should call and see if I can or just try to change it back when its all done. I just don't won't to risk delaying it even more since we are leaving over seas soon.

Wooow, was this for real?? Such an insensitive officer and insensitive is the lightest adjective I could think of to describe. I would totally understand not risking the application now but if name change was not something you were planning, I'd try to take action now.
