N-400 March 2016 Filers

Hi! Thanks so much for the info!

I am actually OUT of the US right now though... without my passport My husband was transferred abroad for work. Supposedly the UK only needed my passport for 10 days to put a visa in it. With the impending Brexit thing going on though, they told me after they had the passport that it was now going to be 6-8 months before they could process and give back my passport.

I spoke to a really awesome Tier 2 officer yesterday, who put in a request to reschedule my interview and detailed the times we could do. The local embassy out here can get me a second passport, but needs a few months to do so, so I'm hoping they'll give me the interview in August or September. We shall see! Never a dull moment ..

However, thus far the rescheduling process has been very smooth! We'll see if it continues this way!

Please check out the picture below towards the bottom where it states that "PLEASE keep this appointment, even if you do not have all the items indicated above". They would probably issue a RFE and process your application, which might take less time than having to fit you in an interview again.

Hey Kris, do they allow cell phones at the JFK building if it is off or in airplane mode?

They allow them. Don't worry about switching off or putting on airplane mode. I think just stick to using it conservatively, i.e. replying to messages, checking emails once in a while

Don't have a full blown phone convo while you're in there. That would probably get you noticed lol.

It says "If you do not receive your notice by July 8, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice." Are they citing July 8 because that's exactly one month from today (do they normally give a date one month out for everyone to receive the notice?) or because my oath is likely on or after July 8? I'm curious as to what other oath notifications have said. I was really hoping to have my oath done before the end of June.

Please refer to the link above, which is the USCIS policy manual for n-400 apps. Under G-2, it says a valid and unexpired US passport is fine. If it still bugs you, call and find out. It couldn't hurt. And not that it matters at this point, but wouldn't they just require a copy of the birth certificate? I wasn't aware that USCIS would need the original birth certificate at the pre-interview stage.

I'm guessing you have been scheduled towards a date near the 8th since they wanna give you ample time to receive the letter. Maybe you could call and express your concern. I'm sure an officer can pull it up on the system and let you know since it's already been scheduled.

It was as you said, kris_hetfield. My oath ceremony has been scheduled for July 8 at 8:30 a.m. I just called USCIS.

hey i know ))),yours is gonna be before me , and there is oath ceremonies on June 21 ,July 12 and 26 ,August 9, September 16 and so on !!!By the way in the interview letter, they did ask me to bring -1.interview letter,2.Green Card,3.International Passport and also any proof of selective service ,i don't know why they asking me selective service cause i was lawful non immigrant till i was 26,5 ,and of course i was not required to register do you have any idea how i can proof them that i was not required !!!and what about yours ,did you get the same requirements???

I've just thought.....are you Male or Female? It's only males that have to sign up for selective service, so if you're female you need not worry about that part.

I am also in South Florida and had my biometrics over two months ago and no changes since.
