Hey

I finally bought my first house (yay) and will be moving within state but different USCIS district around mid-June.

Given that I'm in-line for interview scheduling since May 18th and seems to take about a month to get the interview letter (which should fall just a few days after I move) should I just wait to get my letter provided it's 10 days after my move and then update my address? I don't want to update too early since it might jinx the interview scheduling, or it doesn't matter?

Even though I am not in a hurry, it is a bit sad to see almost everyone in-line except a couple including me :). My biometrics was on Apr 22 and still nothing.

I just got back from my interview. The interview itself went great. I had a very pleasant officer. He asked me to read a sentence, to write another sentence. Asked 6 questions,and then he just went through my application. My oath ceremony is scheduled on 7/7/16.

Congratulations Lana7!! Start to end less than 4 months!

Even though I am not in a hurry, it is a bit sad to see almost everyone in-line except a couple including me :). My biometrics was on Apr 22 and still nothing.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. My interview yesterday went well. The immigration officer was very pleasant and the interview took about 25 minutes. I did the civics/history test first - he asked me six questions and told me to write a sentence. Then we went through the application, and I made a couple of updates - to my address and my international travel since filing. At the end, he told me I passed and that he was recommending me for approval.

Congrats, no oath date provided? If not, is it because you're an early filer. I noticed you didn't put ur GC date on the master list.

Thanks kris_hetfield. No oath date was provided. In NY, they don't give it to you on the spot. They send you a letter in the mail after the interview letting you know the oath date. That should arrive in the next week or so hopefully. I'm not an early filer.

I moved just before the interview as well. As we were going through my application and the immigration officer asked for my address, I let him know that the current address I had written on the application was no longer the case and I had a new address. He crossed out the old address and wrote the new one in pen on the form, and we carried on with the rest of the application. It wasn't an issue at all, and no questions were asked. He also reassured me that the oath letter would go to the new address. Hope this helps!

What you describe is the situation at most field offices. The norm is for the applicant to be sent an oath letter by mail after the interview.

Some offices (the minority), will give the applicant an oath letter on the same day, shortly after the interview. This can be for a same-day ceremony (like in Newark) or for a later date (like in Houston). The applicant may be asked to wait until a supervisor checks the file.

I asked the officer if I could do the oath the same week (knowing this wasn't likely), and he said I'd have to wait 3-4 weeks. Then I asked if I could do it in another county in New York if that meant I could do it sooner. That didn't work either, haha.. I was exploring all options! He just said to go home and wait.
