Thanks! I know right! I haven't even started studying yet lol I'll get to it tonight. I also need to look up what paperwork I need to bring to the interview. The list they have on the website is so short it worries me; it's pretty much marriage license, hubby's birth certificate, green card and appointment letter.

Hello, In addition to your appointment letter, did they also send you form N-659 (Naturalization Interview Document Checklist).

Someone told me that very recently (from last two weeks) they are sending out the form N-659 list together with the interview letter.

Apparently the checklist aligns with the list of items stated on the new N-400 application form instructions. It looks like now they are telling us exactly what to bring to the interview.

Please confirm if you have also been given that checklist (form N-659). Thank you.

Congratulations! That's not much notice,,, they almost always give you 4 or 5 weeks notice for the interview... must be because you're a 319b filer.

Hello ,

Someone told me that very recently (from last two weeks) they are sending out the form N-659 list together with the interview letter. Is this true/

Hello!

The interview letter does include a list of documents that I need to bring to the interview. I attached a picture for you. It looks to me that it is a pretty standard list as 90% of the items don't apply to me.

Thanks so much for your prompt response. Luck you!

It appears they are now sending out two sheets. the first sheet is the appointment letter and the second sheet is the list containing a long line of items to potentially bring to the interview. That is the form N-659.

If you google "USCIS N-659" you will find links from 2007, 2009, 2014 that all mentions the form N-659. It doesn't look like a new form that they've been using for the last two weeks.

Yeah it's possible. If you check the N400 instructions, towards the end, they give you the exact list of evidence you need to bring. It might be the same list as N659; it's long and detailed.

But I am sure that once they did not send that list to you, then you will not be asked for those things at the interview.

Oh and the interview letter was just emailed to me yesterday after I accepted the appointment. A few hours after, my case status changed to interview was scheduled....we mailed you a notice...Now I'm wondering if they are talking about the N659?

They didn't ask for it maybe I've only been married for 1.5 years ?. The N400 ask to bring it so I'll play safe and bring them.

The notice could be just a hard copy of the appointment letter. They may not add the long list.

On the other hand I have read online several instances where folks were asked to bring a stuff to the interview and when they got there the IO just asked them for their passport, green card and driver's license. He did not ask for even the things stated on the appointment letter.

It is quite usual for them to ask for additional evidence at the interview. Some of what they ask for is not listed on any list.

They can ask for evidence about your current eligibility for naturalization or about how you got your green card.

For example, if you got your green card through marriage then got divorced and applied under the 5 year rule, they can ask for evidence that you were in a legitimate relationship when you got your green card. This is not common, but happens from time to time, including to a handful of VJ members this year. The checklist for a 5 year applicant doesn't say anything about proof of past relationships, but they can still ask for it. If you don't have it with you, you'll be given an opportunity to send it in. This is just an example.
