Can I have my medical before I'm ready to interview, and delay the interview for a month or so?

Hi all

I'm in the situation where my readiness for interview is being delayed by my husband needing to backfile with the IRS, and also waiting on my FiL and husband to be ready with all their paperwork.

However, I have my GP note to say about my pre-existing conditions and how they shouldn't pose a problem, I've gotten the vaccinations I needed, and my ACRO cert. I've had my finger hovering over the visa application submit button for a while but just need to triple-check it before submitting! I'm sort of antsy wanting to book my medical for April and I'm really hoping my husband and FiL will be ready with their stuff by then. However, if they're not, can I wait for up to a month or so after having the medical before hitting the 'ready for interview' button? I know visa interviews can come around quite quickly once your medical is done and you've said you're ready, but I'm not sure about trying to leave a gap between the two.

Hope that makes sense! Any advice would be great!

Yes you can. Being DCF London, you are somewhat like the K1s. London will not issue your interview based on receiving the medical report. They will need all three things:

DS-260

Medical

Readiness form

Holding off on the Readiness until you are actually ready with all your documents is what they want you to do.

Great!

I just wasn't sure if there was a point where they'd start getting antsy or require a new medical after a certain amount of time... I know the ACRO expires but I will definitely be in date with that.

Hopefully it wouldn't be more than a month or so anyway!

Thanks for all your help :)

Once you have the medical, the TB check part is only valid six months. Your visa will be issued accordingly. If you had an April 10 medical, then your visa would be issued to expire Oct 9 or 10 (six months later). If you messed around and didn't interview until Sept, you'd get a visa only good for a month.

As far as getting antsy, they know there are people who have delays getting all their documents, especially those who need foreign police certs. That's really why they do the Readiness form, so they know when you have all your docs in hand. For the other CR1s who go through NVC, all the documents have to be seen by NVC first, then NVC gives out the date. That's why I said DCF people are very much like K1s in the interview processing.

Hello again!

Missed this reply at the time, but just in case anyone else is reading with similar queries, I can confirm having had an email from the medical people: "PLEASE NOTE: ALL MEDICALS ARE VALID FOR SIX MONTHS ONLY UNLESS ADVISED OTHERWISE BY KNIGHTSBRIDGE DOCTORS- you must obtain a visa and travel to the United States within this period or you will need to undergo a new medical at an additonal expense."

Thanks again for your help Nich-Nick!
