Hello everyone!

I sent my AOS packet in on Saturday (Feb 27th), and my SSN (with my married name) came in the mail today! I was hoping to switch over my Ontario, CAN drivers license to a New York State one ASAP. But i have a few questions / concerns about it.

On the NYS website it says that your license will need to have had been issued 6 months prior.. I got my G license class just before I moved here in Jan 2016 but I got my G1 license class in 2011 then I had to go through the graduated licensing system that Ontario has in place. I have an official driving record that says I got my G1 in 2011, got my G2 in 2013 and my G in 2015. So, is the issuing date going to be a problem?

Also, as for my ID I have the following: SSN, Marriage license, I-94, K-1 visa.. is that going to be enough to prove that I'm living in NYS. I'm also going to be try to be added to my husbands bank accounts to get a credit card.

Thanks for reading!

I think it implies you should have had your foreign license for at least 6 months (as in you didn't just get it 1 day before moving...so 'at least' 6 months prior' )

You may want to have the admin's move this to the Canadian forum where folks with similar experiences can offer up suggestions?

I moved to NYS from Vermont in Dec 2014 and I got my license a few weeks before we moved. I had to wait till May 2015 or else I would have to do all the tests etc again. So if I was you I would wait till July or August depending on when in January you got your license. I hope this helps.
