So, my husband and I live together in Sweden, and when we move to the States we will start off by living with his parents. So to prove domicile they ought to sign a document saying that we will live with them, right? Any advice on what to say in this letter? I was thinking something along the lines of

"When our son PETITIONER returns to the United States with his wife BENEFICIARY, we have agreed that they will stay at our property at ADDRESS until they have secured a rental agreement for accommodation of their own. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us at PHONE NUMBER." And then signed.

Any other information that needs to be included?

Am I supposed to include my police record to the docs to NVC? Which one am I suppose to take to the embassy?

congrats, the first link in my signature is the wiki guide for nvc. I used it and got through super quick! I had my husband get his police Clearance after noa2. We got packets together so after aos fee we could get them out to save time then pay iv fee and do ds260. Worked....

Hi all..I didn't find VJ until after I already submitted my I-130 petition so I didn't know anything about front loading. I need validation on what i'm doing with the Proof of Relationship file that i'm building for my husband to take with him to his interview. I've had one person confirm (thank you LoveinGhana! what would I do without you?!?) but my nerves are getting the best of me and need more validation. :) I've been following their instructions and only sending what they required which means other than a marriage certificate, they don't have any Proof of Relationship for us. So here's what I have in my file so far:

  • Flight information for my entire family (parents, brother + his wife and kids) that flew to India for our wedding.
  • Emails
  • Flight itineraries showing our trip to Dubai for 2 weeks together.
  • Money/Wire transfers I've sent him since our wedding (more than $500) -- if it was less than that i wouldn't bother including it.
  • approximately 15 Pictures from the wedding that include just us, us with my family, us with his family, us with friends
  • approximately 10 pictures from our trip to Dubai together
  • WhatsApp chat from May 2015 to present.
  • WhatsApp call log screen shots for the last month or so (I didn't realize till last month that WhatsApp only keeps 1 month of call log records at a time. )
  • Skype video screen shot
  • He will add pictures of the gifts I've sent him + cards I've mailed him

Do you think the above documents are enough to prove our relationship is still bonafide?

I emailed the Whatsapp Chat record to myself and it's come out to more than 3500 pages!!! there's no way I can print all of that and send it all to him. If I email it to him to print, he would have to go to an internet cafe and spend hours and money printing. Is it safe to just pick random dates for the chat and print about 10 pages from each month?

The one month of February WhatsApp call log is already 12 pages long -- that's with me putting 4 screen shots on one page. Do you think they will ask about the previous months?

I know they are probably not going to go through each page and read/check everything, but i'd rather have more evidence than not have enough.

You're probably also wondering why i'm doing it and mailing it to him versus emailing everything to him for him to put together.......Well that's where my OCD comes in. I want to organize everything for him in the way that they want it and easy for him to give to them. So I'm going to get an Accordion File Folder, put tabs labeling every pocket and send to him so he can place his documents in the section that it's supposed to be in (original + copies). That way when he gets to the consulate everything is already in order when the first consular checks.

I appreciate your experience and value your opinion.

Hopefully you had just a good of a petition package sent to USCIS and approved. That's where they see if this is a bonafide relationship. Along with their investigation and reviews.

Nothing wrong with bringing your update to date chats and such. Probably not going to be asked for they don;t have time for all tat. Most important is copy of AOS package , Updated AOS if its been updated and all your originals. Including the petitioners if any photocopies were included.

First, if you are not here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/185-scandinavians/?view=getlastpost you are more then welcome :)

If your husband can fill for tax, get bankacc. and be a voter. Then you are a long way.

Also the letter will be fine, that's what i did with my wife.

I'm the petitioner. When i submitted the I-130, i only sent in what they asked for: the I-130 form, the G-325a (hubby's and mine), and the optional G-1145, along with copy of my passport, my citizenship naturalization papers and copy of our marriage certificate. The immigration attorney at work said USCIS doesn't expect you to have more evidence than the marriage certificate at that point as we had JUST gotten married 2 weeks prior. He was right. My petition was approved without any issues or RFE's.

Now, i'm building my file for the proof of relationship. the Packet 4 for Mumbai said if AOS was submitted already to NVC then no need to bring that to the interview...but to your point, maybe i'll include copies of that when i send the proof file to my husband. nothing needs to be updated for that though. I sent in my 2015 tax returns + W2, 2014 & 2013 tax transcripts so they have all updated information. the only thing they need is the proof of relationship.

I grow so tired of incompetent lawyers who advise people and they end up in AP or worst denied and sent back. It's not USCIS we are trying to impress. Your I-130 file all you submit at NVC goes to the hands of a CO and they render a decision whether the marriage is bonafide or not. No evidence how are they to know.

If you reread the I-130 instructions it does say and list examples what can be considered bonafide evidence. Since we are Long distance loves (well many of us) they don't expect joint things. But chats, Skype, boarding passes to prove your trips to each other, Visa stamps in your passport.

All lawyers say the same mess "USCIS don;t need it" And they really think a CO is going to go through a pile of evidence at interview.

Ok, now i'm freaking out! I have been following what the process is supposed to be based on USCIS and DOS. I sent in what i could based on what the I-130 instructions said. it didn't say to send chats, pictures, call logs, etc.... so I had no clue! DOS website says to bring the proof of relationship to the interview....Mumbai's Packet 4 instructions says the same (even specifies chats, pics, etc...). Are you saying not sending all this stuff ahead of time might cost me? :(

Sorry. It's not compulsory to send chats, and IM's not everyone has those. They want you to send evidence proving a bonafide relationship. Just like how K1's have to prove they met within the last 2 years with pics and boarding passes and visa stamps. No difference for us to prove we are in a real marriage. A marriage certificate just proves you got married.

Well no need to freak out at this point. Just take what you have to interview. All embassies tell you to bring what you got. Some CO's don;t ever even look at it and approve. I know many who did what you did and had no issues at very hard embassies. It's really all dependent on the CO.

So just pray for them that they had a good full breakfast, good sex (well doesn't hurt) and feel good and positive. Sorry to scare you. It is well.

You'll see once you have Case Complete you will come on over to my Interview thread which is a bless thread (No one gets denied over there). :goofy:

Also be sure to read the embassy interview reviews for your embassy to see what folks are reporting. What CO's like to see , etc.. Very helpful to get insight from others.

Worked....

You aren't sent any packet an email but why are you waiting around for NVC. You will be stuck forever. Please read the NVC Process wiki (from the 1st post ).

There's a bunch of things that have to be included in the IV packet you send back along with the AOS. Come back after you read it. We are here for you. :goofy:

Ours was an arranged marriage and I submitted our petition within 2 weeks after we got married so there wasn't anything to submit as proof for a bonafide marriage just yet. I think that's why the Immigration attorney said it wasn't necessary to send anything yet. I stayed in India for a week after our wedding and when i got back to TX i gathered everything and submitted the petition.

So ya, i'm piling up on the evidence so he can show them everything...now we have things to show we are in a bonafide marriage! I'm already praying hard for a cc this week and an early interview date and for him to hear those words we've been longing to hear. Now i'll be praying even harder that they accept our evidence.

I'll try not to freak out.

Hi guys!

I just paid the IV fee now. Didn't know I have to wait to fill out the DS 260. I thought I could do it right away.

It´s all in the Wiki:

-complete the online DS-261

-pay the AOS bill, once it's invoiced

-pay the IV bill, once it's invoiced

-complete the online DS-260

-submit both packages together

-respond to any checklists, if applicable

-get case complete

-get interview date scheduled

-case is sent to embassy/consulate
