Dwheels - They finally got back to me about changing my interview date, May 23 now I couldn't make it home in time for their origianl appointment!

Oh good glad you finally got word. No you can relax.

Hey what was your original appointment date and the day you got it so I can update that info. Some one seeing your CC and a 5/23 date will be like What the What. LOL

I just got a call from the us consulate in amsterdam that they rescheduled my appointment wereup i say'd i hope its early'r and she say'd yes thursday 17 instead of tuesday 22 of march so allmost a week earlier yeayhhhh

Haha yeah I get what you're saying!!! Ok original date assigned was April 5th. The package left NVC on Feb 29 and was with the embassy on March 4th.

I am creating After Case complete wiki. Most of the things on first post will be moved there (It's getting to long). Please think of vital information that can be shared or that "Wish they would post this" so others can know.

I know some things are very embassy specific but a couple I want to add like

1. India booking at the VAC for bio-metrics
2. DR can now schedule their own interview

I also really urge EVERYONE to go to their countries portal (That bottom at the top click portal if you have your flag up). Go to your Consulate Info page and make sure information for your Visa type is up to date. Updating can be done by any VJ member.

I also will b adding after the interview pickup advice. I already added the ELIS info.

So feel free to give me your ideas, suggestions. Thank you

I have to report cuz this is so funny. And well kind of cool I feel special.

My husband went to his medical Monday. He returned Wednesday for his results needed more test but while he was talking with the receptionist he noticed she was on Visa Journey (Imagine). And who was she reading a post by. me,me,me,me.

So my husband said do you know dwheels76. The lady said I don't know much about this site I follow some things and follow what dwheels76 says. She was amazed how dead on we were on medicals and specifically their clinic and said our information is very accurate.

So he tells her "that's my wife dwheels76". She was shocked.

It's like OMG. I hope the clinic and embassy sees me as a nice person willing to help. Thank you Children's Place you really took care of my baby. He's home now sleeping off all the blood taken. He said "Babe it was too much". LOL

Anyway quite a surreal experience. Hope the embassy is equally nice.

Indeed this was a head scratcher for me too. Prior to and after getting case complete I studied your timeline as well as others with upcoming interviews for Nigeria and I thought for sure the earliest we could get scheduled is May. The only thing I can think of is maybe there was a cancellation and so they plugged us into that slot... Either way, very grateful and humbled as I know this may not be the norm.

Our interview dates are exactly 1 week apart, so I'll be praying for you and your husband as we also countdown to ours. And the countdown begins

Why to risk having a long AP for not fiscally declaring your marriage on your tax returns?

Besides there are monetary incentives to file MFS and using NRA as SSN and when the spouse obtains the SSN you can amend to MFJ and get more money back because the tax bracket is lower for MFJ. Read IRS Pub 17 for year 2015, page 22.

You are not risking AP, when you file head of household with dependents other than your spouse, you have the option to treat your spouse as a non resident. It's stated on the IRS guidelines for filing head of household. There is nothing wrong with filing this way. When your spouse becomes a permanent resident in 2016, then you will have to file differently, next year.

Right, HOH, MFJ, MFS are all acceptable. You shouldn't file single though. That would be a concern for sure.
