Case Complete to Interview April 2016

I've been following this thread for some time, but have been silent throughout. Great information and feedback from everyone on here so thank you!

I just checked my case status online as I normally do (4-5 times a day lol) and I just saw 3 N/As! The N/A under the AOS fee is greyed out which I assume is what it should look like? Either way I'm excited, my husband and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary yesterday so if case is indeed complete it makes for a great anniversary present

I'm going to call NVC a little later to confirm, but my scan date is Feb 5th... fyi for others that are waiting.

mine is feb 3rd and I called.... mine hasn't been touched yet. Hope I don't get a checklist

Ahh, maybe I should wait a bit then. I paid the fee like 2 weeks ago before hubby arrived and I just created ELIS today. I found some info on the USCS site and I thought I could check status there, but the last status case on that one was when it was sent to NVC in October (we are well passed that stage). So I will wait, and see if the accounts link together after today.

I do not know if it works backwards because when you pay before opening the account the information has no where to go.

I am going to charge for this one...LOL. It took me some guessing to figure this out. No one at USCIS website bothered to explain how to make it work.

NO NEED FOR ACCESS CODE, that is for other procedures like getting a copy of a green card, etc.

1. Create the ELIS account as I explained before.

2. Go here: https://www.uscis.gov/file-online/log-online-filing

3. Click to pay the USCIS immigrant fee icon.

4.Click "continue" at the bottom.

5.Enter the Alien Number and the NVC or DOS case number, go on with the payment. Use the same email you used on the ELIS account.(this is the key)

6. You will get an email confirming your payment.

7. When you log again on the ELIS account, you will see your case number. (It is added automatically).

Well, apparently my assumption is correct, if you pay first, then the information gets lost because there is no account to send it to.

You should've received and automated email like this:

Our interview is April 27th and my husband already filed his taxes for 2015 and he did it using H&R Block. The guy told him to go ahead and file as he usually does with no mention of being married. Is this going to be a problem? We will walk with the updated tax papers and I am worried.

Yes, it has a big potential to be a BIG problem not only before the CO but before the IRS.

If he filed already, I would be amending ASAP to MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY and NRA on the field for your SSN.

He called the IRS office and they told him either way is fine but he will amend it to Married filing separately.

Can you be more specific as why you could not register?

Did you input the DOS and the DS-260 confirmation numbers?

I do not understand why an IRS employee would respond with that kind of answer, is like saying that noon is the same as midnight.

But I can assure you that if the CO sees SINGLE in your tax returns and you are applying for CR1 he/she will become very suspicious of both of you and more than likely will deny your visa or put you on a long AP until you guys come clean fiscally before the US.
