Exactly which vaccinations are required?

I'm in the process of hunting down my vaccination records (so much fun, as I've moved around a fair bit and haven't been to the doctors in a looong time)...

So far I've tracked down that I had "DT (Double/Polio)" and "DT booster", last of which was 20 years ago, BCG (TB I believe?) in 1993, and "Single Men C" in 1999.

As far as I can gleam from various websites, Hep B isn't required for over 18s, is this correct? Also, I haven't found evidence of having had a MMR vaccination, but I thought everyone had this in the UK? I haven't gotten the full details from every surgery quite yet though. I'm also not sure on Pertussis...

Which vaccinations do I need exactly, as a 34yo? I'm thinking my interview/medical is likely to be after April 1 too, so the flu jab isn't required.

For adults

MMR (two are required) But if you have your first on record right before your medical exam, you will get a waiver of "insufficient time interval" for Dose 2 because they can't give you doses closer than four weeks apart.

Td or Tdap or DT or DTP or DtaP (One dated no longer than 10 years ago, or have a booster) that is Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis. P does not stand for Polio.

Varicella it is waived if you had chickenpox. Also UK CR1s get it waived for "not routinely available". So either way you won't need that.

Influenza (during flu season) If your medical is between Oct 1 and Mar 31, you need the shot.

Your list

"DT (Double/Polio)" and "DT booster", last of which was 20 years ago, Are you sure it's not Diptheria/Tetanus? Anyway must be within 10 years.

BCG (TB I believe?) in 1993, Not on US list. Doesn't count for anything

"Single Men C" in 1999. Not needed by adults.

Thanks for your reply.

I knew the P didn't stand for Polio, my record just states "DT (Double/Polio)" so I'm guessing they were both done. Not sure, but as you say it's irrelevant anyway as it needs to be withing 10 years.

Seems like I should just go to my local practice, register, and get MMR and DTaP. If I do this as soon as possible, I may have enough time to get the double MMR done.

Finally found the practice I'm registered at (haven't been in over 10 years).

Seeing as I need the jabs, I'll get Tdap and MMR (x2) done there. Once that's done I'll obviously have my full vaccination history on paper from them. Seems straight forward enough.

Nick, could you show me where it is written officially regarding the Varicella being waived and the Tdap being required within 10 years?

I can't find anything saying this on any officical websites.

Thanks

Ok, so in the UK the "P" does stand for Polio. I've just been to the doctor and had the first MMR, she confirmed that.

She said that in the UK, Pertussis is given only to children and is very unusual to be requested. I can get it with my second round of MMR in 4 weeks, if it is absolutely required. This would be in the form of a DTaP / IPV (second part being Polio).

Additionally according to this page on the USCIS website, "Haemophilus influenzae type B" is also required. My doctor said this is referred to as HIB (I thought it was just the flu jab but it isn't). I'm not totally sure if this is needed, either.

Failing anything concrete, I can just get the DTaP/IPV anyway when I go back in 4 weeks, which covers Polio, Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis.

Any more help would be appreciated.

Ok, so in the UK the "P" does stand for Polio. I've just been to the doctor and had the first MMR, she confirmed that.

I believe the point was when DTP or Tdap are written in a US immunization list for immigration, the P needed is pertussis.

Additionally according to this page on the USCIS website, "Haemophilus influenzae type B" is also required. My doctor said this is referred to as HIB (I thought it was just the flu jab but it isn't). I'm not totally sure if this is needed, either.

Not to be confused with the seasonal influenza shot. Hib is on the list for children, not adults.

Failing anything concrete, I can just get the DTaP/IPV anyway when I go back in 4 weeks, which covers Polio, Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis.

If it covers Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis then you meet US requirements. The polio is not needed, but part of the shot your GP has available. You get a bonus.

Any more help would be appreciated.

This thread was edited by mod Ryan H to exclude many posts (which took several hours of my time) with reference links and much more detail on immunization specifics. Because other people asked for more detail, like you are now, he deemed the thread hijacked. I am not going to repeat that effort.
