The IRS Tax Transcript is what they prefer. I believe if you don't have the tax transcript, you need the 1040 AND the W2.

I just finished with my interview and they asked for both my tax transcript and W2.

I was approved. They took my passport, and I'm waiting for it to be sent back to me. Hoping I'll see the status update this week, but the consular officer said it could take a couple weeks. And really, it's only been 1 business day since the interview. I'm excited though!!!!
