I'm nearly finished with gathering all of the documentation for our I-130 petition. As I put all of this together, I wondering just how much is needed in order to prove our marriage is legitimate and ongoing. We have been married since October, but have been together since 2013, and lived together since 2014. To this end, we are including:

  • A copy of our marriage certificate.
  • The title of our car with both of our names on it.
  • Documents from our bank proving our shared finances.
  • A signed affidavit from my parents attesting to the legitimacy of our marriage.
  • A copy of the lease to our apartment, and a letter from our landlord confirming that we continue to cohabit at that address (in British Columbia after your one year lease is up, you continue to rent on a month to month basis)
  • Receipts, passport stamps, visas, and photographs from all trips we have taken together, with explanations (this might amount to a lot)
  • Letters from each of us describing the development of our relationship.

Is this sufficient, or too much information?

Also, our airline tickets will take up quite a bit of paper-- for these, would it be OK to print them double sided?

In my opinion, you can leave out the affidavit from your parents. You have lived the ther so you have very strong evidence from that. You didn't mention any photos of the two of you (just your trips) - include photos of day to day life and also photos of you with each other's family members. But the shared finances and the lease agreement are very strong evidence.

You guys living together for so long and sharing finances is great evidence, most other stuff won't be needed.
