Just checking in...

Still haven't heard anything here either, my case was received on the 26th of March, bio appointment was on the 27th of April, but the tracker still says case received....I'm on day 57....sigh.

We have very similar timelines - I am now on Day 61. I called USCIS and they said if I don't hear anything by Day 75 (June 9) to call and they will take my case further. This is very frustrating as I am sat at home all day waiting to start working... I'm sure we all can relate but everyone else seems to be ahead of the game and it is so upsetting :(

6years... i had my biometrics on the 18th of April. No news at my end as well. Got an RfE and responded that same day. Since them moot...its so frustrating. You never know what exactly is going on

Isn't it so frustrating?! I didn't even get an RFE and I haven't heard a single thing. *EDIT* I notice you're in Tampa, Florida too!! Perhaps our local offices are really slow :(

I COMPLETELY understand! I've had two job offers that simply could not wait any longer :( I have no idea, have you looked at the processing times for Tampa, FL? Because currently for i-485 they're still working on cases from October 2015.

You should be able to call USCIS May 30th, I believe? Whenever it hits Day 75 for you, call them and they will look at your case further and let you know what is going on.

So, I have another update, that might help some others out as well....

As you all might still remember... a week ago I called USCIS and asked for a tier 2 officer to see where my case was at, he told me it was approved and also told me if I didn't receive a tracking number I would have to call back within a week (so that will be today).

So I called today, told them I called a week ago and had to call today and ask for a tier 2 officer, got put through without a problem...

The officer was a nice lady and she looked up my case information, then informed me that there's something going on with the card production atm, so my card isn't even being produced... She also had no idea about an estimate for me, but told me to keep checkign the status. I told her the internet rarely to never updates and asked if it bothered them if I would keep calling each week. No problem at all! (so everybody doubting about "bothering" them when you call them, you don't bother them at all they seem happy to help you out and they are so kind! the tier 2 officers I mean)

I also asked her "and there is no way for me to work without my card?" she told me that I am allowed to work since I am technically a legal resident. But that it's up to the company if they will hire me with just the approval notice since it's not an official card showing that I am a legal resident. So if I would start working now, without the greencard in hand, it would not be illigal to work. (I think this is only for the greencard tho, not ead and ap etc).

Maybe this helps some out, and I will keep calling them each week if they have an update on my greencard... I really wish I could have it in my hand by now =( (been 9 days since approval)

Thank you for this information:

1. What number did you call? and how did you get the extension to get to an actual person rather than robot

2. Surely by now you're overstaying your K1 visa? My i-94 and my K1 visa have expired by now as it has been WAY over 90 days since I entered the country.. Therefore, surely it would be illegal to work without your EAD and green card? but it would be good to have the approval notice to take in with you. I made the mistake of waiting too long to get my social security number so now I have to wait to get my EAD before I can apply for my SSN. *EDIT: Wait, are you saying you received your green card approval notice? In which case that would make sense that you would be able to go ahead and try working.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THATS TRUE?? CAN I APPLY FOR MY SSN EVEN THOUGH I AM TECHNICALLY OVERSTAYING WHILST WAITING FOR MY GREENCARD?

Congrats to everyone on recent approvals!

Just to add another 'fun fact': I have my EAD card in hand for almost two weeks now, but as it's not in the system yet, the DMV is unable to verify it and I can't renew my drivers license. The are doing some sort of a second verification through Austin, which I should receive a letter about at some point in time in the faaaar distant future. (Not to mention not even getting job interviews...) I have dreams about getting my old job back in Hungary, haha. Don't remember feeling so stuck and useless my entire life.

I know, me too. Maybe us Tampa people are unlucky :/

1. I'm not sure what number to call, but I guess you can find it on your i797 (the Noa).

2. Once you send your aos papers you're authorized to stay, not accruing any overstay. And even if you did, your overstay is forgiven since you're married to an us citizen. It is illegal to a k1 entrant to work without an ead, but as she said, her ead was already approved and her green card is also approved, so technically she can work, the thing is she doesn't have the actual card to present if need be.

The ss office will only issue you a card if you have at least a couple of weeks left of validity in your i94. If you passed the timeframe you'll need another type of document showing your authorized stay, like an ead or gc. That's why if you didn't do it right away, you have to wait til ead to get your Ssn card.

Hope I helped some way.

Good luck.

Thank you for both of your replies! I am going to wait another week before calling - but as it stands, neither my EAD or my GC have been approved yet :( I seem to be the only moron that didn't apply for a SSN because I was unaware of the time frames. I suppose my own ignorance is coming to bite me, but I really hope this does not delay the process.

Does anyone know if your SSN is given to you on the day, but the paperwork takes 2 weeks to come through? I have heard mixed reviews but now I am stuck over here with no bank account having to use my UK account, no drivers license so I'm stuck in my apartment, and unable to work :( It is so frustrating and I am certainly going crazy!

ALSO does anyone have any tips for getting a US drivers license? I do not have a UK drivers license as I have not yet learnt how to drive.
