Yes they are different. The application number is what u use to track progress of your case,the MSC#. The A number is your alien number or green card number. Both can be found on the top right of the bio letter. Edited April 7, 2016 by HopeFab

I send my files on march 17th, delivered on march 18th. Got 3 text and email with a receipt number on 23rd march and checks cashed on 24th.

After that, its almost 2 weeks, but I haven't received my hard copy yet. do anyone know is there any problem behind that?

But the receipt number they give me on text/email, with those I can check my case on uscis website case status and it says my files have been received. what does exactly they say on the hard copy?

I did my biometric appointment yesterday and all went well and just how others have described!

But my question is: what now? Should I be tracking my cases and wait for them to say "approved" (and hopefully no RFEs)? Then once my applications are approved I assume my work/travel authorization card will be mailed to me?

Now you wait .

You'll either get notification of an interview, and/or notification that your EAD combo card is in the mail, OR if you are lucky your interview will be waived and you'll get notification that your GC is in the mail.

I was snooping around on the February AOS filers and there's a handful of folks that had their interviews waived and are now waiting for their GC in the mail (talk about a quick process, eh?)! The rest of the folks have been getting notifications of the scheduled interview within a month or so

Hard copy pretty much says the same thing as the electronic notifications. "Hey we received your forms...". You can use the receipt number that you got on the electronic notifications as they will be listed on the hard copy on the USCIS website.

Thanks for your reply. I just talked with them over the phone, they said dont worry if you haven't got the hard copy, because you got the text and email notification. Great info to know- we will try to do a walk-in for my husband's bio tomorrow. SW Houston ASC office. His appt is Tuesday, but my only day off is Friday's during the week.

On a different note- we both have been gaining some weight, so he won't be happy that they will ask his weight. LoL.

Glad you got a hold of someone. For the AOS I don't think we need the NOA hard copies for anything...it is nice to have them on file anyway though. They may just show up in your mailbox just not as quickly as you were expecting

hahaha yes that is my problem too, I do not want to know my weight! and now sadly I have to... I need to go to the gym more often and I know that, but it's so hard when you aren't living the normal life (work, friends, familie etc).

And I really hope that we will know soon what we are waiting for, an interview, a quick greencard. I hate to be in the dark for real... right now you can get your greencard within a month up to over a year... It would be so much better if USCIS could give people an estimate expecation!

I have my biometrics in about a week, but first this sunday we will be visiting the bridal expo I am so excited! We have been married on paper but we have a long way of saving up money for that dreamwedding I want! haha so my greencard cannot come fast enough for me!
