Today I called USCIS, he said you can fill out a form( i forgot the form number) and USCIS send you a copy back but he said we cannot guarantee if your request to getting copy of your papers back decrease your case progress or not. but you can make an appointment to your local office online and ask them, however there is not also guarantee if they give you a copy.

If your case is confirmed to be at a local office, I would make an infopass and explain you absolutely must have a photo copy of whatever document you need. You could end up waiting a while but I think if your file is in the building then they could at least TRY and get someone to get you a photo copy.

honestly I would try my hardest not to piss off the USCIS powers that be. If you answered truthfully you'll be fine. It would raise my suspicions if someone asked me to send me a copy of my answers. Edited December 22, 2016 by Sticky

At the very least it could earn someone a post it note on their case file to question them even more. It is an odd request for sure.

I agree with both Sticky and Sparkles. If I were a USCIS officer, I would definitely dig a little deeper into the file of someone asking to see what he/she submitted prior to an interview.

Question to VJ family: I made an Infopass appointment to speak with an officer about why my husband's green card application has been stuck at the NBC since April if his background check has already cleared (well, step one is to confirm that I remembered that part correctly from a conversation we had with a Tier 2 in November).

Anyway, here is the question: the appointment is for the morning of the day after we return from our trip to Taiwan. Could it reflect poorly on his application in any way if we are jetlagged or in any way not in super-duper-tip-top shape? If so, and if we decide to cancel this appointment and reschedule, would THAT reflect poorly on his case?

Maybe I'm overthinking....

You are going to just go to a window based on a call number, like B5 at window 3....they don't care how lagged you are, it's kind of like uscis fast food lol. I went in thinking we would sit with someone and all so I dressed decent. Nope. You will be fine! Edited December 22, 2016 by sparkles_

Today I was talking with a USCIS representative on the phone, he said in Atlanta currently they are considering cases of April. I said I filed in March what about me?. he said I dont know, maybe your background check takes longer than others.

basically nobody knows what is happening in USCIS.

We went at 9am, and were out in half an hour. I think you're going to be in and out fast because it didn't look like the USCIS offices were the place to be for the holidays. They called us up, we explained, they had us sit and wait again and made some calls then we got real info.

Wear easy on/off shoes. They still do a full TSA style screening.

No I dont think this means it is at the local office. It just means you didn't get any RFE yet. If you want info ask to be transferred to a tier two officer and then ask them if your case has been transferred to the local office.

We should get status updates when transferred usually. What country are you from? Some do take longer than others

Just an update on our case PD March 9, Queens NYC. I contacted congressman for not having interview yet. I wasnt surprise by USCIS response basically saying what the website processing times show--that has NOT been updated since November 16 and reflects Sept 30. Makes me feel like an idiot here.

Sticky- as per your advise I got an info pass appt early at 7 am this morning,for the Manhattan office in January. I cancelled the holtsville. Here goes nothing, again.

It's like being told to take a chill pill while standing in the middle of the track of an incoming train.

So when I am supposed to fret- 2 wks, 3 mos, 1 year, 2 days? This just ridic. Sorry for the vent guys but I just got question-shamed by uscis.

Lets hope it never comes to this for any of us.....but after 2yr wait, that is grounds for filing a writ of mandamus for an interview/answer.

Spoke to a friend of mine who also married a Moroccan guy, but like 5yr years back. She told me it took 1 year and 6mo for him to finally get the green card. How bad is it that I've now mentally prepped myself for EAD #2 and not hearing diddly til early summertime 2017?

Green Card arrived, 10 days after interview.

Am very pleased to see that it is quite green. The interviewer said it wasn't.

Flash News!!

Today I got a mail in my mailbox from Department of Homeland Security. It indicated my interview date which is in late January. I am happy that after about 10 months I got my interview scheduled.

the question is why my online status is still the same; " case is ready to be scheduled to an interview" ?
