Hi, Kbrokkeq. Have you created an account on the USCIS website (vs simply entering your case number to check the status)? That is where you can sign in and view updates on a service request. You can create one here if you haven't already done so:

https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/showSplash.do

is the only difference that you just can check your service request? does it give you any more information by making an account?

Yes, that's the basic difference, at least for us. I don't know if an interview date would show up there earlier than receiving a letter by mail or via the public online status checker.

We filed our AOS petition on 3/12/2016. According to the AOS timelines shared on this site, I have learned the following about couples adjusting from K-1 to PR at our local service center in St. Paul, MN:

Couple A filed AOS on 7/27/2016 and received the green card in the mail on 11/23/2016. (Filed nearly five months after us)

Couple B filed on 6/27/2016 and received GC on 9/21/2016 (Filed nearly four months after us)

Couple C filed on 4/12/2016 and received GC on 6/17/2016 (filed one month after us)

Couple D filed on 4/12/2016 and received GC on 7/14/2016 (filed one month after us)

Couple E filed on 3/30/2016 and received GC on 6/29/2016 (filed three weeks after us)

Couple F filed on 3/22/2016 and received GC on 5/26/2016 (filed 10 days after us)

Couple G filed on 3/12/2016 and received GC on 10/29/2016 (filed same day as us)

Couple H filed on 3/3/2016 and received GC on 4/23/2016 (filed one week before us)

These are just the couples that are active on VisaJourney and updating their timelines. So, when we call USCIS on Thursday and are told applications are processed in order of receipt, I will calmly and rationally call them on their BS.

Oh, daveyjoe. You are my spirit animal. Spirit person. Our senses of humor and expression are kindred spirits.

Who is Olivia Pope?

I jest. However, I have never seen an episode of Scandal. Mayhap this weekend is the time to start binge-watching (after I get through my rage-fueled phone call to USCIS)?

Speaking of binging, the holiday season is upon us, which means that I can stress eat to my heart's content! Wheeeeeee!!

Ready to cry and scream! Inquiry response along the lines of "Local office is backed up, delays not related to your case. Expect delays in adjudication."

Our lawyer is already talking about filing the renewal EAD in 6wk :(

Actually you would have to file in about 9 weeks, since you cannot file for a renewal EAD more than 120 days before your original EAD expires.

This is outrageous!!!!!!!

I actually read it on here that somebody talked to them on the phone, and they said that officers randomly pick cases from a pile. They probably pick the smallest folders before going to lunch!!!!

I know you already contacted your congressman. But I think there are 2 per state. All you guys should bombard them with letters. Call them, bug them all.

We contacted everybody on the chain. Our problem was resolved, but we wrote to the heads of USCIS. LOL On every letter we informed them that we included a copy to everybody.

One of the senators helpers was eventually helpful, even though he kept saying that they cant affect the decisions of USCIS. But we whined to him so much, that he used to call the USCIS immediately and every time they would give him an actual response with dates and expectations.

I'm not saying it's a solution but at least it gave me some hope that things were moving, nobody lost anything.

At the end of the day, nobody really can do anything about how slow they work, but if some officer assigned to the pile that your folder is in, gets a nudge from someone else, it's better. At least they will look at your case.

It's always better to get one specific person to bug from senator's office. Not just email them. Our guy was very sympathetic, and it was nice that somebody cared to listen.

I really hope it all works us for you all. It's so frustrating. My husband would always console me saying "It's going to happen. Sooner or later. But you will get your green card".

Hi - just wanted to share that we had our interview in Miami and were approved right away. Because of her tone and way of speaking I'm pretty sure they had made up their mind before we even walked into the room. the only real 'questions' we got were to see the originals of our various documents (passports, birth certificates etc).

One piece of advice - I brought a few things as evidence that weren't easy for her to add to our file (for example a book of pictures). She was in a rush and didn't want to copy anything, so she just took things that were easy to fit in the folder (we brought loose pictures as well which she added). Because it was a bit rushed I also didn't add pieces of evidence to our folder that I was planning to. but I guess it doesn't matter for this step :)

See everyone in two years!

I think the ombudsman is the end of the end of the contact route....your senator should be next. I can't even make an infopass appt at our local office, they haven't had an opening in about 1.5mo!!

I think the ombudsman is the end of the end of the contact route....your senator should be next. I can't even make an infopass appt at our local office, they haven't had an opening in about 1.5mo!!

Thanks. We'll try our luck with our congress(wo)man. Hopefully, she will actually care about her constituents enough to nicely harass USCIS on our behalf.

Yeah, how can one score an infopass appointment? I've been sporadically checking for months and have never seen an opening...

I hate seeing you all still battling the waiting game of USCIS. Especially during the holidays.

I hope you all can enjoy the holidays none the less, preferably with some good news of a set date! My wishes this season will be with you all, to finally have clarity, knowing i could have been in this position still gives me chivvers!

Thanks for the support, SanneW!

For InfoPass, check early in the morning. I think they reserve slots that are released a day or two before the date? At least this is the only way I've seen appointments available for my nearest office.

This process is very frustrating and I'm cranky that this is the second time USCIS dragging its feet is affecting my holidays. At least this year my AP is still valid over the yule tide so I can go visit my family. Ugh.

Met: June 2004

Face-to-Face 1st time: June 2010

I moved to the US: August 2015
