We were approved on the spot!!

We had a very interesting officer! He was very animated, spoke very fast and joked around a lot! He said we didn't have a strong case- paper wise. But "he understands us millennials do everything online." But he knows our relationship is real. He asked me a lot of the questions on the 1-485. I said no to all of them. He asked me about when I first came here and if I remembered coming here. I said no, I was only 3. He asked me about where my husband works, what street, his most annoying habit, etc. He asked my husband about my friends, work, family. He asked for any additional documents. I gave him a new medical form. He asked of we had any kids or prior marriages. He said he couldn't stamp my passport because I initially came here illegally and daca/advance parole doesn't excuse me from that. My husband chatted him up a bit about his work and other things, so he made things much less stressful. I will get my resident card within 2-3 weeks. He also took back my daca employment card. He explained the conditional residence; we only have one year, married. 8 years together. He laughed that we met on Myspace. I brought pictures, which he didn't look at. He never asked for birth certificate or passport. Just photo id. I brought one binder of originals and one of just copies. Insurance forms, joint savings account, travel documents. Whew! I'm just glad it's over! Please comment if you have any questions!

Thanks! Our congressman is Keith Ellison. I've already submitted a request for his help inquiring about the status of our case with USCIS.

Do you remember how long it took for you to receive a response from your congressman's office? How long did it take to get an update from them about USCIS?

Hi guys!

Finally, my interview has been scheduled for December 5th! Getting closer! I'm in New York City.

CONGRATS!

But also I want to scream because that's not really fair! I submitted ours 3/7 and it got there 3/10 and you're already scheduled?! - and we are both in NYC!!! You did yours a whole 20 days after me!

UGHHHHHHH.

Did your status change online first prior to you getting a letter in the mail? When it changes online does it tell you the date that has been decided?

Thanks!

The USCIS is completely unpredictable. I have seen all types of cases. There are people whose cases haven't changed from Fingerprints received... it's annoying.

I don't know if it's related or just coincidence, but I submitted a case inquiry earlier this week. Have you done that? https://egov.uscis.gov/e-Request/Intro.do

My status online changed today, the receipt has not arrived yet. Yes, the interview date is specified online.post-238745-0-80887200-1477673193_thumb.jpg

palolis and daveyjoe!

I am also from new York, but queens. Filed on March 9 and been on "interview will be scheduled" since May 12.

Still waiting for that interview date. The processing time are barely moving, around 10 days for Queens and just a bit more for New York Office.

USCIS is a freaking nightmare.

I have called incessantly to constantly be told that the call volume is too much so I cannot be transferred to a Tier 2 agent.

The time I did get a tier 2 agent on the phone they took my case number, said "let me put you on hold for a brief second" I was on hold for 20 seconds then the agent dropped the freaking call.

I called back got put on the waiting list again for automatic call back, nothing for hours, so since it was 7PM (EST) I thought well looks like they're closed for the day, only to go to the bathroom and come back and see they have called me while I was away. FML!

I call yesterday in the afternoon and the woman on the phone acts like all of this is my fault and that I need to call earlier in the morning.

I wake up early and start calling 8AM (EST) time hoping to get thru. The usual channel keeps saying to call back between the hours of 8AM-6PM... ok... well. it is 8AM, so I call back 8:10AM - nothing, ok... 8:30?- no. well maybe it isn't EST then. I'll call back starting at 9AM- nope. 9:15AM - nothing. The website does not indicate a time zone.

I swear I have died and this is purgatory. I swear this is what it feels like being stuck on the island in LOST. The hours I have WASTED trying to just get a simple answer. Welcome to freaking America.

USCIS are so stupid sometimes I was always fobbed off when I tried ringing :/ we gave up trying to ring and just kept harassing our congressman haha they seemed to listen to them more might be worth a try hope you get it sorted!

Hi guys,

I finally had my interview this past Monday!

The interviewing officer was really nice, she asked me a few questions like how many times I entered the US and what types of visa I used to enter.

Then she asked me all the questions on the I-485 form, I had answered yes to "Have you ever been arrested, or [....] or fined?", so she asked me to explain. I was happy to see that she had clearly read the attachment I provided with the I-485 to explain why I answered yes. She said it shouldn't be a problem, but she'll have to ask her supervisor.

We showed her our joint bank account and credit card as well as joint health insurance.

The only problem is that I had my K-1 interview a year ago, on November 4 2015 but my medical was on October 27 2015. AOS interview was on October 31 2016 so it's been over a year (barely...) and I may need a new medical done. She said her supervisor will make the decision.

What I didn't expect was that she said my DS-3025 wasn't complete because the doctor who filled in my home country didn't check the box "US vaccination requirements complete". I remember a thread here on VJ about weather you need a new medical for AOS or not. It said that some doctors will check the box and others won't but that usually the IO will see that the vaccinations are complete not worry about it.

She literally said "It's not marked as complete, although I see you have all the required vaccinations. I think you'll need a new form anyway, regardless of the fact your original medical expired".

Today I got a RFE in the mail asking for form I-693. It seems that's it's only asking for the vaccination record part of the form, but I wonder if I should have the whole medical again or not. I'll make a new thread for this.

I see most people who are still waiting are having their interviews scheduled now, that's great news :)
