Just came back from vacation and found an RFE in mailbox. The RFE is asking for evidence that I paid federal income taxes for year 2015.

Strange thing is we submitted AOS in March and received NOA on March 16, 2016, therefore, I ended up submitting evidence for income tax for year 2014 (because I filed 2015 tax in end of March 2016).

It seems USCIS is testing my patience.

It would be great help if somebody can guide me on how to response to RFE.

Do I need to send a cover letter or just the copy of RFE notification and evidence for income tax for year 2015?

Thanks!

I did not use a cover letter when I responded to my RFE. I sent the requested document along with the original letter (not a copy). They know specially what they are asking for, so I don't think a cover letter is necessary.

what did your online status showed before you got RFE? My AOS receipt date is March 26 and i also did not submit my '15 tax returns. My online status says "As of May 11, 2016, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status"

It did not say anything different from the last few months. Just that your application was received.

Any other people out there whose local field office is Seattle ? all forms lodged Mid March. Received my EAD card 22nd July, nothing since. No sign of an interview date. Last update on USCIS Website is that they had received my RFE on July 1st and were working on my case again.

What kind of visa are you adjusting from? If it's a k1 you may not have the interview at all. But there are at least two people on the April filers thread that got their interviews at the Seattle office

Gotcha, then definitely have to wait for the interview. But as I said before, there are a couple of people in the April filers thread with interview appointments. Also, I've seen other people around (can't remember which thread though, sorry) that has interviews scheduled but then they canceled it and they remain without another appointment date. Hopefully you get yours soon.

Hope so, this has definitely been the hardest stage. My attorney say we are still within the timeframe so would have to wait until October to query my case, though hopefully we will have heard a long time before then.

We're St Paul, MN office, I'm hoping the interview is after mid October now as that's our 2nd anniversary, it'd be nice to get the 10yr green card. But on the other hand I just want it done and over :)

Yes they are...

I looked at the AOS statistics for San Francisco office yesterday (here on VJ) and saw that someone has an interview scheduled for the end of September. That person filed for AOS in December 2015.

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslist.php?cfl=0&op1=6&op2=d&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,9,10,11&op8=San%20Francisco%20CA&xfr=&vtype=1&interview=

So we have plenty of time left to wait!
