Hey everybody. This doesn't have anything to do with immigration but I wanted to let you all know whats been going on with me. I posted it here because I don't go into other VJ forums and my friends are here in the ME/NA forum. I hope this doesn't bother anybody. I am friends with most of you so that is why I chose to post this publically rather than send a zillion PM's and run the risk of forgetting somebody. I tried to find a way to send a PM to all my friends at 1 time but couldn't find a way. So that is another reason I did it this way...

I had an MRI the other day and got the results today. They told me I have Chiari Malformation. Basically it means that the base of my brain (cerebellum) has protruded through the base of my skull. It is probably the reason for many of my problems I've had lately (too many to mention).

There are many things that can happen including, but not limited to ... paralysis, loss of feeling in limbs, migraines, dizziness, slurred speech, back/neck pain, etc etc etc. It can be looked up at webmd.com or by doing various other general browser searches if you're interested in learning more. I will be seeing my doctor tomorrow afternoon to discuss this further. Thanks for listening and again, I hope I am not causing a problem by posting this publically.

Amal... You'll be in my thoughts tomorrow. I hope it's something that can be treated without too much difficulty. Lots of hugs.

I hope you are OK and that there will be a treatment to minimize any discomfort or symptoms. I have never heard of this condition but I'm curious about it now. I wish you the best. Try to educate yourself a lot about it.....it is easier to accept something and cope with it when you understand it well.....we tend to get scared of anything we don't know much about. Take care.

Thanks again everybody. I've been researching my heart out since around 530 today and I have most of the symptoms of this disease. The troubling part is that about the only ones that I don't have yet are paralysis and death. That really scares me. It does look like there is a surgery that can put the brain back in place but that is so scary ... (hey, on the upside, I can say that i'm slowly losing my mind! lol) sorry..if you don't laugh...you cry... and who wants to do that, right? :)

i know this probably doesn't mean anything but i saw medical show on tv recently about a man who had the same thing (or something similar) where his brain was going through his skull into his ear canal. he had all those symptoms as well. dizziness, passing out, etc. kept going undiagnosed until finally someone noticed it and he had surgery to fix it. and he's fine now! i hope your outcome will be the same!!!! let us know if you need anything. or someone to talk to....

xoxo

Amal, I am so happy you shared with us. I know you have many things on your plate right now and this certainly only adds to everything. I guess its good to have a name for the symptoms you have been feeling. Doctors have such great technology today and medical advances are so amazing. I hope your doctor gives you some good news about your options tomorrow! We will be waiting for the update. (F) Keep that good sense of humor going!

Thanks :) It really makes me feel better knowing that you all are here for me to vent to. hehe When I told my husband about it, I also apologized to him for being a "broken" wife. He said .. "nono don't say that. all this means is that I have to love you even more than before"... isn't that just "gag me" sweet. I love that man!
