We are filing concurrently for my USC wife's parents who are inside the U.s. when/if we get the Advanced parole, can they visit family outside of the country for 2/3 months without it being a problem?I know with a green card its ok. basically they want to visit grand kids this summer , and come back late august early September before the aos process is finished.

Is there some unforeseen problem for them traveling outside of the country during the aos process? If we file now concurrently, my understanding is that the interview would be about 7/8 months away, so they would be back for that.

Thank you in advance

Harry

**** Moving from AOS from Family Visa to Travelling During US Immigration forum *****

2 months is probably ok, but I would not recommend much longer outside the country while trying to convince the government that they want to live in the USA, especially as there will be an interview at some stage. If the visit to the grandkids is important, you may want to file for a visa instead of doing AOS.

Technically, the AP or GC allows you to leave the country for up to a year without the need for a re-entry permit, but as Penguin_le mentioned, periods longer than a few months may lead to questions related to permanent residency upon re-entry.

Good Luck!
