Hi again! So I talked to my boyfriend about the B2 visa and he agreed with me that it wouldn't do any harm but he thought it was unlikely that he would be approved since an official already told him he wouldn't have enough money to get a tourist visa :P

Instead, he brought up the possibility of him finding a job here in the USA and then getting a work visa to come to the country.

Any thoughts on the likelihood of getting approved for a work visa, advice on how to go about it, or ideas on where to start looking for a job for him?

Any help you can offer on this subject would really mean a lot! :D He's willing to try for any type of job and anywhere in the country is okay for now. Even if we're not really geographically close to each other we would certainly be closer than with an ocean separating us meaning more chances of being able to spend time together in person!

I'm trying not to get my hopes up about this possibility but this would really be a best case scenario for us at the moment if it were to work out!

study more about H1-B visas, best done on a PC.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

In order to get a work visa the company that hires you must prove there is no US citizen that can do the job

most companies then do the work for the work visa as this is the most expensive (lawyer fees) one to go for

We have VW plant here bringing in a lot of foreign help

any job does not work for work visa / can we assume you are not able to travel to meet him as you are trying for any visa ?

OP mentioned he works for a multi national which has US operations, an internal transfer would be quickest and easiest.

He is currently working as an assembly operator in the Delphi Kenitra plant. He has also worked as a storekeeper and assistant accountant in a store in the past.

I believe he also attended an IT Development School. I'm not sure if that would count as a degree?

I can't travel to Morocco right now as I am caring for my mother who is terminally ill with breast cancer. If he can't find a way to get a visa then we will be separated for another year or more at least.

How might he go about getting an internal transfer and are there any requirements for that?

Multi National companies move staff around all the time, both my Brother and Father did stints in the US. A relative here spends time in Denmark.

Not sure exactly what he does, but sounds like he needs to work his way up to a higher position, Something he could discuss with HR.

He would know if he has a BSC whatever, equivalent to a US 4 year degree.

He can get an internal transfer IF his company is willing to sponsor an H1B for him. Seeing that he is an assembler in what sounds like a factory I wouldn't hold my breath, but it doesn't hurt to ask. In order for him to get an H1B visa from another US company he must have a highly specialized profession/degree as the employer must prove that there are no US citizens who qualify for said job, our government doesn't allow foreign workers to take US jobs unless they cannot find a qualified citizen to fill the position.

An internal transfer would be a L.
