i started the petition with my wife's married name hoping we would change her maiden name on her passport to her married name later >
now we came to know that changing name on an indian passport in canada (that's where my wife is studying ) is difficult and a long process

so we want to change it back to the maiden name on our petition

is that possible ?

also we can change the name at the POE right ?

Yes but you have to change it legally just like you would do a normal name change after marriage.

In Texas for example, you have to be approved at your county court.

So whatever process applies in Canada to change your name, that's how she has to do it.

Yes sufficient time. You can delay at the NVC but you only need the new passport in time for the INTERVIEW not for the NVC.

Nope, not true at all. CBP will use whatever name comes on the visa and papers from embassy.

At NVC, you have to send a copy of her passport's biometric page, police cert etc so I would change her name before you submit the papers to NVC. It's not like you hit NVC and straight away send in the papers, there are other things to be done before so you have time. And I doubt NVC will complete your case with forms in one name and all her supporting documents in another.

due to some travel restrictions we cannot update the passport for two months

our plan is to write a letter when we send our package to nvc mentioning the name change issue and that we will rectify it on the passport at the time of the interview

let's hope all goes well , i will also be calling NVC on monday to ask about this
