Remember that national geographic poll of 18-24 year olds that found 94% of those polled could find the US on a map? Guess what that means for 6% of them. 6% of 18 year olds cannot find their own country on a globe. That's bad. I'd be okay with 1%, to allow for people in comas and stuff, but 6% is not good.

Even more surprisingly, the Detroit Regional Workforce finds half of that illiterate population has obtained a high school degree.

I think much of what we "know" or knew about Trump was wrong and what people predict now is also wrong. Anecdote (generally worth little, but anyway). A guy at work is a republican, him and I have laughed about Trump. He hates him. That was a month ago. This week he admitted he will grudgingly vote for him because he hates Clinton. I also have another co-worker (both are well educated) who told me this week he ALWAYS votes even if he hates the choices. He didn't tell me who he was voting for, but I'm pretty sure he won't vote for Clinton. He knows Trump is crazy, many people do, but when it comes down to it a lot of people are going to vote for Trump not to support him, but because they hate Hillary. Same reason many will vote for her, just to stump Trump (because nobody likes Hillary).

Makes sense. The demographics of Trump supporters is directly related to literacy in Detroit. Might as well add it to the list now.
