After receiving my conditional perminent residence card I had to travel to the UK, I've been here for 4 months now and am really worried this will cause problems with my CG.

Will this time spent in the UK be a problem when I return to the States?

Thanks

Nope, not a problem. If you come back after 1 year, your GC will be considered abandoned though.

If you come back after 6 months but less than a year then CBP will question you and advise you that as a lawful permanent resident of the US, you should spend more time here than abroad.

Don't stay for over 1yr.. If you are living separate from your spouse then that is where you should worry about.

It can be, as usual fact dependant.

Will being apart from my wife for this long cause problems with my 2 year conditional permanent resedency?

Hard to say. At the end of the 2 year conditional permanent residency you will have to file for removal of the conditions (ROC) on your permanent residency. You will then have to prove to USCIS that you entered into the marriage in good faith and was not for the purpose of circumventing immigration laws. The types of evidence ("marriage bonafides") you will need to adequately demonstrate this to USCIS is delineated in the I-751 (ROC) instructions: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-751instr.pdf .

When we were in the 2-year conditional residency phase, we set aside a file cabinet drawer for collecting any and all manner of "marriage bonafides" evidence. This was a suggestion from an old VJ veteran who had been down the path before us. When filing the ROC, we went through and sorted out the evidence that we had accumulated.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
