hi all!

I just wondered if anyone has been to Dominican Republic on holiday!?

WHICH ALL INCLUSIVE DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST?

Help me to decide which one to go to! haha

Plus - I am up for any info on other places in the Carribean that are amazing to go to.

I would love to hear whether people feel all inclusives are better than cruises. (On minus on cruise have to pay for alcohol seperately) I have never been on a cruise and don't like enclosed spaces. So any advice here?!

Many thanks!

:)

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

My brother and his wife have been to punta cana. they said it wasn't great.

My suggestion would be the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is a british colony and they use american currency, and half of it is owned by canadians :D

Now if you want a real vacation, I suggest Iceland!

I went to one of the Iberostar hotels near, was it playa dorada? In the north (My mind has gone blank!!!) and it was absolutely perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to go to another Iberostar. I loved the Dom Rep and it was so much better value than most other places in the caribbean.

I would love to go again some day.

Here's my opinion. I have been on 2 cruises - one 7 nights to the Eastern Caribbean (Peurto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, & St. Martin) and one 5 night to the Western Caribbean (Cayman Islands & Jamaica). Cruises are nice BUT you do not get to spend enough time on the islands. You have enough time to do maybe one excursion and maybe some souvenir shopping and then you have to get back on the boat. They're good to (briefly) check out different Caribbean islands and see which ones you may want to visit in the future. Also, I am slightly claustrophobic so I had an ocean view cabin w/ a small window on both cruises. This helps and you don't spend a lot of your time in your room anyways. I had to take Dramamine the whole time to prevent sea/motion sickness also. And boats usually don't bother me at all. I think it's because everything is closed in.

I am partial to Jamaica :D because while I was on my cruise there is when I met my current husband! I have been back to Jamaica 6 times since then. I have stayed in Ocho Rios and Negril. We have never stayed at an AI (all-inclusive) in Jamaica because my hubby knew where we could go for food and drinks etc. for MUCH cheaper so we just stayed at a regular hotel each time I went there.

As for the Dominican Republic, I have an opinion on that too! My husband and I JUST went there from March 1-7. We stayed in Punta Cana at Ocean Bavaro Spa & Beach Resort. It was all-inclusive. HOWEVER, I got really sick from food poisoning while we were there so for the rest of the trip I did not drink any alcohol and hardly ate anything. If you want to read my entire review go to tripadvisor . com and look for the one titled "looks can be deceiving" from Detroit, MI. I read all the reviews on there and they were about 50/50 so we took our chances and booked there. Other people also got sick there though and I've read some reviews from other hotels there and they've gotten sick there too :o Also, if you go there do NOT drink the tap water!!! It's not purified.

Hope this helps. If you have any more questions let me know.

Wow! Thanks everyone. I saw your review thanks alot rhonda.

I want to treat hubby to golf - it looks really expensiee and I am trying to get a good deal on this. I am sure the hotel does a 'deal' but am sure we will get ripped off. Hubby also wants to explore the 'jungle' therer haha! I don;t know which side of the island is best to go to. ugh,,, guess I am going to have to do more research!

Oh, Iceland - isn't my cup 'o' tea! I want WARM SUN PALM TREES AND NICE GRUB!

Look into St Maarten...(and don't do all inclusive) it's wonderful...two places in one the island is 1/2 French and 1/2 Dutch....fab beaches, bars, restaurants etc.... you won't regret it :thumbs:sharky.gif

Having both cruised as a passenger and worked aboard a ship, I would say this - if you cruise, you are stuck with the same people day in, day out. It can be very stressful worrying about missing the boat, and you don't get to spend a lot of time anywhere. But, there's always something to do on a cruiseship. (I recommend the live shows, but I was a showband musician ;))

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.
