We received our NOA1 on January 4 and are still waiting for our NOA2. There are people who got their NOA1 after us who have been approved and our timeline states we should have had ours between February 17th and 20th. Waiting is the hardest part and paranoia can set in easily but hang in there, our time will come.

I will not look back on this journey with fond memories, but I will look back knowing that every step was worth it, whatever the outcome.

I don't remember, I stopped looking because I became and still am obsessed! There's no hard or fast rule, it's difficult to predict what happens at the centre and bearing in mind that K1s are not the only visas they deal with, so we just have to wait it out and try not to over think it.

I will not look back on this journey with fond memories, but I will look back knowing that every step was worth it, whatever the outcome.

Our NOA1 is January 4, our estimated time for NOA2 was 14-16 February, we still haven't received anything. I think there are even people who got their NOA1 in december who still haven't got their NOA2 or an RFE, but also people who got their NOA1 after us who are already approved. It's weird that they don't handle the petitions by what date the NOA1 was sent out.

You should get your NOA2 soon, don't worry about it. The way they work it odd, but they will get to you soon :)

Coming from someone who went through TSC Hell ( NOA 1 July 29th 2014, NOA 2 Feb 5th 2015), if you worry about it, it will make you sick.

August 2011: Started talking to Brian
June 1st, 2012: Started dating (L)
July 29th 2012: Saw each other for the first time, met Family
August 2013: Got engaged
July 2014: Sent 1-129F petition
July 29th, 2014: Received NOA1.
February 5th, 2015: NOA2!
April 16th, 2015: Medical in Montréal
May 15th, 2015; Interview- APPROVED!
June 22nd, 2015: POE at Champlain Border

September 4th, 2015: Wedding! :dancing:

AOS/EAD/AP

February 20th, 2016: AOS/EAD/AP Package sent! (Received 2/25, yay for USPS delays!)

March 4th, 2016: NOA 1 for all 3 applications

March 11th, 2016: Hardcopies with all 3 receipt Numbers received

March 30th, 2016: Biometrics (as a code 2, Maybe have to go again?)

April 25th, 2016: Walk in for the SECOND Biometrics appoinment (Code 3 this time, Officer was not the happiest but told us to come back at noon and he'd let us in.)

May 16th, 2016: Submitted Service Request for I-765

June 8th, 2016: Called USCIS concerning delay, officer put another request in and said the previous one would like be ignored as it was created through their website.

June 21st, 2016: Contacted both NY Senators.

July 1st, 2016: RFIE for I-485.

July 8th, 2016; Sent Evidence Requested by USCIS. (Received July 13th)

We received our NOA1 on January 4 and are still waiting for our NOA2. There are people who got their NOA1 after us who have been approved and our timeline states we should have had ours between February 17th and 20th. Waiting is the hardest part and paranoia can set in easily but hang in there, our time will come.

Heya-- just chiming in with a pet theory of mine that may be completely false. I'm not trying to start rumors or "this is how it will be for you", but rather maybe try to calm this paranoia if my theory is true....my thought is that if you answer "yes" on Question 15 "Has your fiance ever been in the United States", your NOA 2 comes in on or a little above average. REMEMBER: "average" is an average. Half of applicants will be faster and half slower-- it appears from anecdotal observation to me that the people who have been to the US before make up that "half will be a little slower" portion.

I've been around these boards for over a year and I have anecdotaly noticed that folks from VWP countries tend to come in a little at the "back of the pack" for their NOA1 date (and I first noticed it because at some people, certain individuals were being rather nasty about it. Being from the civilized world and all, vs all these probable scammers from banana republics).... My working theory is that generally people from VWP countries in relationships with US Citizens have been to the US before (right?). It also happens that I've observed (I have no data, but could probably collect it) that the faster approvals seem to be in cases where the beneficiary has not been in the US before (my own case included-- TSC was taking 7 months at that point, we came in at 5 months, 3 weeks).

My guess is that if you answer yes on 15, they have to send a request to CBP for your entries/exits or look at your ESTA application (or DS-160 if it was a B2 visa), making sure your responses on it and on your 129f are consistent etc. Slightly more work= slightly longer processing times? Maybe?

In this case, CSC is so blazing fast that your're looking at a margin of error of like 2 weeks which is diddly squat in the world of international relationships, immigration and marriage in general. Keep that in mind, keep an eye out and see if that makes any sense to you, too.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!

We send in our case on January 5th 2016 and got noticed on January 13th and received NOA1 on January 19th. I myself think that it takes an average of 40+ days for NOA2 after receiving NOA1. We're waiting for five weeks already too! Our case is going through CSC, which says that Europeans should get NOA2 approved within 1-2 months. Total estimated case time is 5 months IN TOTAL. Including getting approved and interview etc.

One of my other forum members on a Dutch forum got his NOA1 a week earlier than me, on the 12th and he got approved yesterday, So, I might think that mine will come in a week later.. hopefully. Best of luck!!

That is a very good theory, however, it will be difficult to prove unless we know if the beneficiaries who are still waiting for their NOA2 have/haven't been to the States and what they answered on the form. I had been to visit my fiance twice prior to submitting the I-129f and so the answer to that question was 'yes' but we also submitted all of my booking/flight documents relevant to those visits as part of our evidence. That said, I'm sure it would still need to be examined and checked against their records which yes, equals extra time. Never thought before it could possibly be to do with the questions (that one in particular) answered on the form.

I will not look back on this journey with fond memories, but I will look back knowing that every step was worth it, whatever the outcome.

It's a good theory but I don't think it applies in USCIS decision processing. There are so many K-1s have never visited in US- both men and women- and we are all sailing in the same boat. Internet is so rich in giving opinion in almost everything and honestly speaking I think it's all about case by case scenario. Can you imagine USCIS reps flipping papers looking for a certain line item and based on whatever adjudicate a case? Thousands of applications flood USCIS centers every day and there's a process established to adjudicate cases.

Are you Ir-1 or CR-1? Because all the people in this thread are K-1. Have you been able to find an Ir-1 Cr-1 thread?

VJ wont let me post my whole post -

anyways - good luck!

I-130 tend to take longer than K-1s, and sometimes USCIS just takes their sweet old time, just because they can, so try to relax and just take it as is. As someone who waited 10 months from NOA1 to NOA2 (on a K-1) I know how frustrating the wait can be. But honeslty - the only thing that helped me was to distract myself and ignore the fact that I was basically just waiting for something to happen. Eventually it will happen :-)
