Hello,

I have a certified copy of my birth certificate, which has been translated from Arabic to English by the Public Health Department of Qatar. It says "certified that the above is a true copy of an entry in the registrar of births of the public health department, Doha" and it is signed by the "Director of Public Health Department". However, it does not specifically say:

The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that the:

  • Translation is accurate, and
  • Translator is competent to translate.

Will it still be valid to use? And does the date of issuance matter? Does the certificate expire??

Also, the birth certificate states the mother and father's full name, but only my first name. This is the common way of inputting information. It is assumed, that the baby always keeps the father's last name. Will this be valid even though on the line where a Name must be entered it only has a first name not a full name?

Thanks

Wouldn't that be considered a certified copy issued in English by Qatar's Public Health Department, and not a translation?

That sounds about right lol, thank you for your help. My father got it done years ago on a trip to Qatar and gave it to me. I always assumed it was a translation but that makes more sense, that it's just an english copy of the original. Thank you :)
