Hello world!! I really appreciate this community, thansk God ans bless you all!!

on february i got this message:

Notice Was Returned To USCIS Because The Post Office Could Not Deliver It

On February 4, 2016, the Post Office returned a notice we sent you for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxxxx, because they could not deliver it. This could have a serious effect on your case. Please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice immediately. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I made a service request and this was their answer

"The status of this service request is:

You or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your Form I-485. Below is a summary of what we found.

After reviewing our records, we have determined that the USCIS office that has jurisdiction over your case can better answer your questions. We forwarded your service request to the New York Field Office on 02/23/2015. "

at the beginning i was scare because I thought that this could be a RFE, but then i thought: "the letter that could not be deliver by the "#$%$ mailman must be a transfer notice, because as far as i remember my case was not in NYC".

what do you guys thing? and if this is true,, how can i contact the local office? theyre not receiving more appointments online.

i appretiate your answers/similar experiences.

Best regards

I think you need to be verifying what address they are mailing to. Your first problem is the post office did not deliver your notice. Either the post office is messing up, or USCIS has the wrong address for you.

I highly suggest calling the USCIS contact line as soon as possible. 1-800-375-5283.

It looks like your letter was not deliverable. Call them and explain that you have not moved and your NOA's made it to you just fine. Ask them to resend it before they deny your case on the basis of not being able to contact you. I have seen some cases on myUSCIS that have an ominous message that the case was denied because they didn't have a proper address on file.

thanks for your comment.

i called and the addres is ok. i have received letters from them before, so pretty sure it was the mailmans fault.

until i get an answer from the USCIS, im thinking that it most be a transfer notice

Not a transfer notice. They don't send those when your AOS case is sent to your local USCIS office. It could have been an RFE or an interview appointment letter. You really need to contact the USCIS and speak to a tier 2 IO that has access to your case info so you can know what it was that you did not receive. Double check that they have the correct address too.

Thank you KayDeeCee. i called but he said that there was nothing available. when there is a RFE they can tell. but in this case it was in blank.

if it isnt a RFE is either a trasnfer ( i saw a recent example of a transfer notice here in VisaJourney http://i39.tinypic.com/29q0avq.jpg)or an interview as you say. Either way, customer service /tier 2 dont have a clue...

i guess ill just have to way until a second "service request", or another customer representative at the USICS.

That image is of an I-129F petition transfer from 2013 when the mass transfers from Vermont to Texas happened. An I-129F petition and an I-485 application are not processed in the same way. Apples and oranges. I-485 applications are done through the NBC or local USCIS field offices, and not service centers.

If you asked to have your call escalated to a tier 2 immigration officer, and not just talk to a customer rep that answers the phones, they should be able to give you more info about your case. If you just talk to one of the customer service reps that answer the phones at the call center, then they can only see what you can in your online updates.

Besides calling and having the call escalated to speak to a tier 2 IO, you can also make an infopass appointment and go talk to someone directly at your local USCIS office.

If it was an interview appointment or an RFE, you can go ahead and ignore it and possibly get denied for not showing up at the interview, or not responding to the RFE in time, but I don't suggest it. I would find out what notice you never received, and make sure you can receive all future correspondence.
