Sent money to beneficiary

I am a USC and I am petitioning for my soon to be spouse who I will marry before I file the I-130. Last year I sent her $100 western union but it was sent as her mom as being the receiver. If I was to show this would it help or hurt my case in anyway? I will be applying for the CR-1. I have read that sending money to your spouse or soon to be spouse helps show a bona fide relationship.

It might help, or it might hurt, depending on the reason for sending the funds, and how much, and how often.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

They will probably question why you are sending money to her mother via W.U. and not your spouse, as you have choice in naming the recipient.

Don't take me wrong but I don't think a $100 will weigh much as a bona fide marriage.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

I would personally not include that money transfer receipt. It would be better to include information to support your relationship spanning as long as possible.

I could send you $100 by western union tomorrow. Does not mean we are in a bona fide relationship or have ever seen each other.

Focus on other elements. Photos, plane tickets, cards and letters, emails, phone records, and so on.

I'm with JFH, sending money don't prove anything, anyone can do it to anyone. The best bona fida evidence will always be time spent in person, so send passport stamps or boarding passes to show trips you've taken together or to see each other. Also put email/chat logs, phone records, pictures etc.

Thank you for all your responses. I do have plane tickets and photos and email and chat logs. We have seen each other many times over the past two years. I was just wondering if I should add that western union receipt.

Also I am a little bit confused on how I am suppose to show joint bank accounts and having her name on my lease and such if we dont live together? Am I able to put her name on my bank accounts without her living in the USA?

You shouldnt really worry about, "show joint bank accounts and having her name on my lease and such if we dont live together" when i created my packet, all i included was 4 pictures and we still got approved. My husband lives in egypt, we dont have any bank account together or leases or any of that.

I sent money via WU to my wife a few times, and we did not mention this in our application or anywhere, but obviously if they asked at the interview "did your fiance send you money" she would tell the truth and the reasons why. Visa related expenses, plane ticket, wedding stuff.

I wouldn't include it

some embassies assume money is a sign the beneficary is using the petitioner

To me if a person is married they share and since i had him on my tax returns, i sent him his half to get a driving license in his country

it is $85 an hour here to take driving lessons and so much cheaper in his country. He knew how to handle a standard car by the time he came and therefore got his driving license in just 6 weeks after getting the green card

Like they say, money does not show relationship and no where does it say to show this

Best of luck to you

Honestly, I didn't know about VJ until after I filed. I didn't know anything about front loading the petition. I only sent what they required and i got approved with no RFE...thank God! However, if you have pictures, call log, chat history....those kinds of things will be helpful. a $100 money transfer isn't going to be very helpful as others mentioned. USCIS doesn't expect you to have joint anything seeing as how you would be newlyweds and still living in different countries.
