Hey.
Hope everyone's is doing fine; we are required to submit copies of our three years tax returns in the affidavit of support section , in our latest 2015 tax return my husbands tax return company told him that his employer has been cutting less taxes from his salary or something? (i really dont know how their system works) but something like it. So now he owes the government $2000. He has already given the company his W2 ,which makes the tax returns for him, and they told him not to worry as this happens a lot, and that people owe the government a lot more than $2000 and its quite arite and he shouldn't worry about it. BUT they were talking about this from an immigration point of view obviously so this is why i'm asking this forum.

My question is this, as they only see the income of the sponsor in this case my husband who makes enough money to support me, will this affect our process? AS ON THE TAX RETURN IT WILL SAY THAT HE OWES THE GOVERNMENT MONEY.

It's not a problem at all. Many people file and owe. Doesn't matter. Immigration wants to know if he makes above the poverty line you said he does that's all that matters.

Gosh I wish I only owed the government $2000

Your husband is not having enough money withheld from his check for federal taxes. He should revisit what he is claiming on his W4 form. As the above person said this will not have an effect on your case.

I do not want to owe the federal government any money when I file my tax return and I do not want a refund...I just want to break even. Sometimes (depending on how much you owe) you can not only owe the taxes but you can end up with a penalty and interest. It is much easier to have a few extra dollars withheld from each check for taxes then to come up with a lump sum payment of $2000 when you file your taxes. That is your free tax advice for the day!

God Bless

Dear Tina

I'm understanding that he owes money for 2015 fiscal year, and if so, that's perfectly normal. His deadline for payment is due by 18th of April this year. So it's not like payment is past due right now. You have nothing to worry about. I suggest you send the AoS right away. I was in the same box as yourself and we sent our i-864 (joint sponsor) and it took no more then 5 days for them to process and issue our visa. Send your papers to the approved courier service in your city. You would have gotten a list of approved couriers. If not, let me know the city you live in and I'll reply with the address of the courier and name where you can submit the documents.

You must have your husband sign the AOS form i-864 and have him send you these original copy. not photocopy

Tax returns or transcripts for 2012, 2013 and 2014 (alt. you can do 2013, 2014 and 2015)

W2 statements from 2015

Job Letter from current employer

Copy of his passport

Copy of 2 most recent pay stubs (if possible)

place the 212-g letter.

include a cover letter, listing all the documents in the package and your case number for accuracy.

Let me know if you need any help! Best of luck.

Still have to pay your taxes, and the same exact amount whether your employer withholds too much of your money or not enough.

If they take out too much money, your paycheck will be much lower.

We rather owe money to the government than to hope and pray we get our refund. And that check goes in with out tax return. But the thing is, have to have that money in your bank.

Crazy banks now are only paying a half of a percent interest rates now in a savings account. but at least you are getting that much extra. Government doesn't give you anything by holding your cash. But they sure charge you interest if you are late in paying your taxes and maybe even with a fine. Like 1% per month.

Ha, not fair.
