Hi everyone! I filed for ROC back in September. Haven't heard back yet aside from biometrics appointment. My question is, because my greencard came from a k1 visa, I'm eligible to apply for citizenship. This coming November it's going to be three years from the date my green card was first extended, which means this coming august I should be able to apply for citizenship, right? Can I do that while I wait for USCIS to get back to me about my ROC? Or do I have to wait to get ROC and a new green card?

You can apply for citizenship whether or not the ROC had been completed. If you do not hear back from the ROC by November, applying for citizenship will force them to adjudicate the case. Good luck! :)

Just relax my friend, September is too close for you to panic. I applied in April 2015 and still haven't heard anything.

Good point but if VSC does not accelerate and continue to grow that I751 backlog soon enough everybody will be eligible to file for N400 before their I751 decision.

The infamous "background security check" excuse is what you got huh? This is crazy, go a head and file your N 400 and consider doing a writ of mandamus if you pass the interview and they delay you further. Don't just sit waiting, push them to work on your case. My NOA date is April 16, so I'm guessing they'll tell me I'm withing normal processing time after 11 months.

Wow sorry to hear about your long wait. I was in the same situation till yesterday when the approval notice just came in the mail. I file the N-400 next month. I say do an info pass and go remind them about your case. If you sit down keep waiting, it'll be "crickets" till the end of 2016
