One question - why did you need to apply for a visitor visa? Can't you enter with the Visa Waiver program due to the fact that you are an Irish citizen?

I'm interested in this green card that was "offered" to the OP but declined (surely it was applied for on the basis of certain eligibility criteria, rather than "offered", which makes it sound like they are handed out in the street to passers by like restaurant coupons) and what his/her status was for the several years he/she lived in the US (presumably without a green card as this was declined).

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

 

Now a US citizen!

I'm interested in this green card that was "offered" to the OP but declined (surely it was applied for on the basis of certain eligibility criteria, rather than "offered", which makes it sound like they are handed out in the street to passers by like restaurant coupons) and what his/her status was for the several years he/she lived in the US (presumably without a green card as this was declined).

I forget the precise name of the visa I was on, but it was along the lines a temporary resident visa, which also did not allow me to work. The green cards were granted (as promised) through my fathers employer and should have been over and done with in 2010, but by the time the process was finalized in 2012, I was preparing to set sail..

I've actually just checked online and the visa was issued yesterday.. One less thing to worry about :) Thanks for the input though lads.

That's good that it has been issued. Now just keep your fingers crossed it doesn't get lost in the post again.
