You forget, this isn't my first time to the rodeo. My previous marriages, I wasn't friends with them first. When you're dating someone, you're not seeing the real person, you're getting the representative they're putting forth. It isn't until you marry them, that's when you start seeing what's really there. Janelle and I were friends and had been talking for almost 3 years here before we even met, and that allow for us to see each other at our best and worst without any lies or false pretenses to deal with.

The answer to your last question isn't what you think. At first, white people. The whole light skinned/dark skinned debacle comes from white people who favored fair skinned black people more than darker hued black people. Ironically, when they want a black person in TV now, they go for the darker shaded variety since being light skinned now means you're "tainted."And this has spilled over into the black community so that we're now telling our own people they're not black enough, like such a thing exists. He's muscular, he's cocky, he's a thug gentleman(doesn't exist, but they think it does) and he's good in bed. That's generally the gist of it. It's never we're funny, intelligent, a good person, makes you feel comfortable, etc.

If a white woman falls in love with a black man because he treats her good, loves his personality, etc, I see nothing wrong with that, but when you start to fetish size it, that's when it becomes a problem.

The problem is, black women can't get a break from the standards black men require from us, but they'll go to another race and lower their standards.
