Just wondering if there is any major road blocks if I (canadian citizen) marry my GF currently in the US as a J1 Visa holder

>Will we have problem being denied getting married in the US

>Can we get married in Canada instead

>Will she have to return back to her home country first

>>Can she move to Canada after we get married and after her contract at her current job

>>>while the paper work is in process

Can someone please provide additional tips and know how for us to be together better/faster-thanks

Sorry if this post is in the wrong forum section

you can get married either in Canada or in US, you may sponsor her immigrate to Canada after you get married.

J1 Waiver might be needed if she is not going to return to home country.

Great I'll start my research on the J1 Waiver

J1 waiver shouldn't be an issue if you guys are going to live in Canada.

Immigration to Canada works differently than immigration to the USA. Please follow the link provided by Canadian_wife

Thanks again for all the advises:

Just wondering:

She just recently arrived in the US

>If we get married soon

>>what option do we have if her paper work for spousal support and/or Canada Visa application takes longer than time her time to be in the US

>>can she apply for extention to stay in the US

I just believe that it will be easier for both of us if she is either here in Canada or in the US while we wait for the papers to finalize - rather than her flying be to Philippines

Once you are married she can move to Canada and she can apply within. Canadian immigration allows for this.

Again, check the link.
