One of the many reasons I left a prestigious Gov job after 16 years. Do not lecture me on the legitimacy of any illegal position.

military job? why after 16 when you could have retired in another 4?

Not a military job. I got my 20 in, just not at the same place.

Are you prepared to personally pay for the consequences of amnesty?
Yes I am.

Talk is cheap. We all know that neither you nor any other supporter of this insanity will put their money where their mouth is. You and all the others will burden all of the US workers and taxpayers with the cost of this insane policy.

I'll never understand the anger (resentment, fear, pick your adjective) towards those that are undocumented in this country. I wonder how many people who make the target the illegal alien even know the experience of these families. A significant number of undocumented aliens came here legally and simply loss status. Many entered illegally and make valuable contributions to society. This debate is not black and white and you can't simply ignore the human factor.

This is a family immigration website, the sytem fails some of these families. It is quite common for a family to have a mix of immigration status within one family. Some maybe USC, others LPR and others undocumented.

Why not advocate a policy that address the human needs of these people rather than talk about deportation. Deportation will destroy some families. How is that good for anyone?

reminds me of the South Park episode I watched last week about "time" immigrants, people from a overpopulated under producing future decide THEY want a better life so they come to our time, work for next to nothing, steal ALL the jobs.

To those that support Amnesty, I ask why is it OUR obligation to support countries that do little for themselves...except send their excess to us?

I do not understand this "they just want a better life" argument, how is it the US's responsibility to give them a better life when they are foreign nationals?

As had been pointed out before, just because someone wants a better life does not mean that they can avoid/ignore the laws. I want a better life, I think I will go rob a bank so I can sit at home with Olga all day but don't you dare think of putting me in jail...I just want a better life!

That my friend's is a  attitude.

An amnesty will only trigger more illegal immigration. So, it's a lot of cost and a lot more cost down the road. The last amnesty hasn't really cured the issue of illegal immigration but made it worse and the next one won't cure it either but only make it worse. Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results is simply insane.

I'd call it concern...in the previously mention episode of South Park, the time immigrants did not want to learn modern day language so the modern day people were force to learn future speak....sound familiar? Why should I have to learn Spanish when they refuse to learn English in what was once an ENGLISH speaking country?

My point is that I would not mind so much if they did not expect so much!

Remember the protests last year? Parading around towns across the US waving the Mexican flag, DEMANDING their "RIGHT" to be US citizens?

Now I must go get Olga's translated Birth Certificate....have a nice day!

I don't get it. Why would you have to pay more taxes to legalise the illegals who are already here?

I'd understand if you had to pay more taxes to deport them or replace them with new workers,

but we're already paying for the ones that are here -- why would we suddenly pay more if they

became legal?

[O]ur research shows that granting illegal aliens amnesty would dramatically increase tax revenue. Unfortunately, we find that costs would increase even more. Costs would rise dramatically because illegals would be able to access many programs that are currently off limits to them. Moreover, even if legalized illegal aliens continued to be barred from using some means-tested programs, they would still be much more likely to sign their U.S.-citizen children up for them because they would lose whatever fear they had of the government. We know this because immigrants with legal status, who have the same education levels and resulting low incomes as illegal aliens, sign their U.S.-citizen children up for programs like Medicaid at higher rates than illegal aliens with U.S.-citizen children. In addition, direct costs for programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit would also grow dramatically with legalization. Right now, illegals need a Social Security number and have to file a tax return to get the credit. As a result, relatively few actually get it. We estimate that once legalized, payments to illegals under this program would grow more than ten-fold.

again, that is only partially true. thngs do run in cycles. sometimes it will cost other times it will be a gain.

just like the US population (lke those of europe and japan) was stagnating, mexico's population will too. europe and the usa have had a source of influx. japan has not. economist as predicting a collapse of japan if it does not find of influx of ppl. where does it end? dunno. all i know is that in spite of all of these milllions of illegals, the USA is doing pretty darn well. you want to argue about everything must be done according to the rules, then go for it, you won't get an argument from me. sometimes life is just not fair.
