If there had been legal ways for those people to come here and they just chose to do it the "easy way" then maybe I would not support the amnesty.

If we deport all of these people, there still is no way for them to come here legally. That's what I have a problem with.

If there had been legal ways for those people to come here and they just chose to do it the "easy way" then maybe I would not support the amnesty.

If we deport all of these people, there still is no way for them to come here legally. That's what I have a problem with.

Not really, this is OT and while a person may not instruct another in how to break or flaunt the law on immigration (quite rightly) there is nothing that says that everyone must have a specific view on how illegal immigration should be handled. The Bush administration is advocating amnesty for whatever reason, this poster supports this position. You can disagree with them but to call foul and question their right to be here is OTT.

Often times, legitimate people, doing things legally, get fcuked. Thus, I don't support, in any way, illegal immigration, despite our Governments position.

Supporting legal immigration and supporting amnesty aren't mutually exclusive.

I support adherence to pretty much every law, but that doesn't mean I don't think people deserve a break or should be allowed a fresh start after serving some time, whether that be in prison or in a cardboard box in the hills and river gulleys in my town (and dozens of other towns and cities).

There ARE legal ways to come to the US. Being on this site for as long as you've been, you know that, jenn. Saying that there aren't legal ways to come here is BS, and supporting amnesty because of a falacious argument is more BS. We have no obligation whatsoever to make their wy here, easy, free and painless. The laws are in place, they don't want to follow them. If they get their azzes kicked out of the US and can't get back, well, too damn bad. They should have thought about that in the first place.

The Mexican government shoots to kill illegal crossers on its southern border while holding the door open to the US on its northern border sending their social misfits to us. No amnesty will make the contradictions between their demands on us and what's good for us any less glaring. That's what I have a problem with.

We need to be as emphatic about providing opportunities for unskilled Americans as the Mexicans are about us doing the same for them, rather than worrying about providing for unskilled Mexicans. Their opportunities are for their government to provide, not ours.
