For once in my life, I agree w/Bush!!! Horray for Amnesty!!!

Are you prepared to personally pay for the consequences of amnesty?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Mass roundups and deportations are unnecessary. A vast majority will leave when the gravy train is over. No amnesty...no incentive to stay.

Exactly fine businesses, which should include jail time for the management team of repeat offenders. Prohibit any free use of tax payer funded services. Prohibit leasing or the purchase of property by illegal immigrants.. etc..

Amnesty is the *only* solution because the government does not have the resources

to deport the 8 to 20 million illegal aliens who are present in the U.S. today.

What part of "attrition through enforcement" did you not understand?

What part of "enforcement takes money and resources" did you not understand?

Supply and demand. Cut their source of income and they will naturally go back.

This is also a double positive as employers will have to employ Americans to do the vacant jobs.

You must be kidding...you applaud amnesty for illegal immigration? Why are you here then?

This is absolutely wrong US policy.

Convince us to support it, won't you? Better yet, can you?

You don't stop illegal immigration by rewarding and embracing it.

The government doesn't want to stop it because it's good for business.

Good for business but extremely bad for poor and middle-class Americans..

I am not prepared to accept that ####### for the benefit of US business.

These are the same organizations that charge outrageous prices for their product, yet it gets done on the cheap. What will the market bear they say? Bullshit.

Be fair to your consumers.

I love Japanese cars made in the USA, by Americans. Acura rocks!!!!

How is that a useful contribution to any argument?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

This is a "Legal Immigration Website". Questions?

Are you questioning this person's legality? Rather you than me.

No, I am not questioning this person's legality. I am in fact, questioning this individuals support of the legalization of illegals, on a Legal Immigration Website. Understand?

Not really, this is OT and while a person may not instruct another in how to break or flaunt the law on immigration (quite rightly) there is nothing that says that everyone must have a specific view on how illegal immigration should be handled. The Bush administration is advocating amnesty for whatever reason, this poster supports this position. You can disagree with them but to call foul and question their right to be here is OTT.

Whatever. Anyone on this site should support legal immigration, given the difficulties we have all suffered through.

If someone supports otherwise, they should have been issued a 221G. Absorb that reality before you jump on board the illegal bandwagon.

Often times, legitimate people, doing things legally, get fcuked. Thus, I don't support, in any way, illegal immigration, despite our Governments position.

One of the many reasons I left a prestigious Gov job after 16 years. Do not lecture me on the legitimacy of any illegal position.

You prefer weak government? Read the US Constitution. One of its primary enumerated rights is to protect the borders and sovereignty of this nation. How many more of your Constitutional rights do you want to give away? How about free speech?

Your words are full of sound and fury, but they signify nothing.

Your answers are often shallow and meaningless, PH. The one above is clearly demonstrative of that. Read the Constitution, then, you may gain perspective on the powers and responsibilities it gives to the government and to the individual. After that, you may have a coherent position regarding illegal immigration and our government's responsibilty to those here legally.

Actually there has been 7 illegal alien amnesties since the only one promised by our lying politicians in 1986. Do you want to believe Teddy Kennedy who has voted for all 7 and has #8 in the Senate as I write? Do you believe Bush? I don't believe any of them and it is high time to stop these retarded amnesties. They have not, will not, and do not solve illegal immigration. They only reward, encourage, and embrace illegal immigration, Here is the list:

Congress has passed 7 amnesties for illegal aliens, starting in 1986.

1. Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA) Amnesty, 1986: A blanket amnesty for some 2.7 million illegal aliens

2. Section 245(i) Amnesty, 1994: A temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens

3. Section 245(i) Extension Amnesty, 1997: An extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994

4. Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty, 1997: An amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America

5. Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA), 1998: An amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti

6. Late Amnesty, 2000: An amnesty for some illegal aliens who claim they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty, an estimated 400,000 illegal aliens

7. LIFE Act Amnesty, 2000: A reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty, an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens

8. Teddy Kennedy's and several other bills are vying to be Amnesty No. 8

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
