Hello,

I recently posted a topic about B2 visa for Single 18 year old male- http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/586603-b2-visa-for-indian-student/

According to the forum members, the chances are slim to get the Visa.

So in this topic, i would like to Ask if the chances Greater if i apply with my Mother and father?

Here are the details:-

Age:- Both my father and mother are around 60 years.

I am 18 years old (student)

I have two elder sisters- Both are working and one is married.

How about if we shape the application this way that My father, mother and myself want to visit US for a short tour, are the chances better than me applying alone?

Looking forward.

Just like before, it would depend on ties to your home country and the other factors mentioned.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

There are no "helpful" documents. You could show a letter from your employer that describes your vacation or holiday time off and when you are expected to return. However, this is of little value.

Do some reading in the Tourist visa forum here on VJ to see what others have presented to assist them. Pay attention to posts from VJ member HFM181818, a former US consular officer. You can gain some insight into how visa applications are judged.

Agree. Why not apply based on your own merits (since that is how you will be adjudicated anyway...even if applying WITH your parents) and see what happens. Why do you want to go to the US anyway? It can't be just to travel.

Good luck

as a former CO, I can tell you that I saw thousands of such cases, in which the 18-22 year old son or daughter, tagged along with mom and dad, hoping be issued a visa on 'momentum' should the parents receive theirs....my solution? Isolate the young adults from the parents and interview each separately! Sometimes, when I asked a parent why they were not planning to travel, while their son or daughter had indicated they wished to travel soon, I got the answer of ,'we thought it would be easier to for him/her to get a visa if we applied as a family'....now, while sometimes the parents were issued, the young adult son or daughter was not, their feeble attempts to fool me had become more than obvious (a few sets of parents, who didn't really understand the entire process, often confided in me that 'my son/daughter really is hoping to have a better life in the US after he/she gets there!'..)

Hiding in the background won't work. You are old enough to be interviewed alone (and you should be)....

Many parents were unhappy if they were approved while their adult child was not...oh well. If I was not convinced that the young adult would be returning, I had no qualms about denying their application. Let the parents enjoy Disneyland by themselves!

Hello sir,

Thank you for your Response, if myself and my parents will appear together in my interview and get our visas i will make sure we travel together as well. There's nothing for us to hide, we'll be genuine.

Can someone here please tell me about the most important documents that i need in my family B2 visa application?

Myself and my mother will be secondary applicants in my father's b2 application.

My father is retired Central government officer, mother is a housewife and i am a student.

Please let me know about the documents that we need to gather for our application?

As someone has mentioned before, there is no hot list of documents you need. You must prove your ties to your country. What that involves will be different for each applicant depending on his/her personal circumstances. Your visa - your circumstances - your evidence.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

There are no secondary applicants, they are all seperate and will be decided individually.

You and your father might be approved while your mother denied. Or your mother and father approved and you denied, or your father denied.

Each case is decided on its own merits.

There's no magic list of documents that can prove a case. Just take whatever you have, the interviewing officer might ask to look at them.

Or they might not.
