A good friend is getting married the 25th of this month.

He is at NVC or just getting into NVC, (not to sure) under a L1-A visa. (Intracompany transferee) petition.

Does his wife needs to apply from scratch starting at USCIS? Under what category?

Or his wife just need to be added to his NVC case and start from the beginning together at NVC?

The company lawyer said is pretty easy but has not said anything about her submitting any application and documentation for her, made it sound like is an automatic or built in right to bring his wife.

I am very skeptical about the lawyer's position.

I appreciate your input and/or guidance.

Thank you fellow VJ's members..

She would get a L2.

Ok, but how? They need to do some type of petition. Start at USCIS? Or start directly with NVC?

Thanks for your reply.

She would apply for one on the back of her husbands L1 application.

Once they are married, his wife can take proof of his status as a L1 and proof of their marriage to the Embassy to obtain a L2 visa.

So basically she needs to wait until husband has L1 approved and then apply for L2?

So it is too late to try to tag her to his current L1 application?

Thanks for your replies.

Well he has to get approved first otherwise no need to get a L2. Once he is approved then she takes her paperwork like stated above. They do their looking up see there's an approved L1 and she is attached to him.

It's kind of like a follow to join K1-K2 You have to have the K1 approved and the K2 comes later.

I would imagine most interview together.
